PS3 - cant get online :(

Ok after getting my 3rd router, finally the PS3 can aquire a IP address... but now it cant connect to the DNS?????

The DNS its using is 192.168.0.1 which is the router should it be using a dif DNS?

other thought i had was to look up a DNS online and try and connect to that instead... anyone got any ideas?

DNS can't be 192.168.0.1 - that would be the gateway.

Look at your ISP now, and see what DNS servers it is using - should be within the router stats anyway.

ahhh so thats why its not working then its using gateway instead of dns, just looked for dns servers and got it, off to get it working now now lol cheers stu

even with the dns servers the same as my comp (which is working away here) it gets its IP addy fine, but then when checking for a inet connection takes a while to think about it before saying "An error occurred during communication with the server. This is a DNS error. (80710102)"

Do you need to do any port-forwarding on the router?

i've got the standard netgear router feeding into a wireless network hub thing, which then has wires to my ps3 and this comp, and no probs with this comps internet just the ps3

latest settings:

not sure if the router should be in there at 192.168.0.1 somewhere though

Yeah, you will need to point the PS3 towards the gateway I reckon, although it is picking up a LAN IP from somewhere, DHCP from the router!

What is that default router IP?!

Mr. Ghost, hope your well, good luck with wireless stuff i was ready to give up on mine, til stu and others came to my help, stick at it you will be fine. Mine still disconnects but come to the conclusion its the ISP not me have you sorted the settings on the PS3 to connect to the router? try www.portforward.com see if that can help you

Have you done any Port-forwarding at all?

Are you sure you are not in a double NAT situation? What is controlling DHCP?

Port forwarding = what i did to get TL working ages back?

not a clue what situ im in just know the comp works and ps3 doesnt

Should have got a 360 plugged mine directly into back of the router, and sorted didn't have to configure a thing.

What about security on the wireless?

not set up wireless security i gave up on wireless for now as the wired gives you the full customisation options wheras wireless doesnt so just getting it working wired for now
