Graphics are very good with some exceptions, I hope they'll get around to including proper smoke rather than the light morning mist that occurs and disappears instantaneously and then only when your absolutely toast your tyres and should actually be producing your own camoflage. Second why no tyre marks on the track? there are textured on ones but even doing donuts leaves nothing on the surface of the track Other than that interiors are impressive and the cars are smoothly moddeled. My main gripe is the sound, its appalling the tyre screeching effects especially do not belong on a PS2 lot alone a PS3, also the engine notes of all the cars sound heavily synthesised, especially noticeable on cars that have a slight burble like a 5 cylinder Focus ST it being transformed in to a drone familiar to anyone who has played GT in the last 10 years. Hope they sort these bits out, I'm probably going to be disappointed as polyphony have been rubbish at tyre and engine sounds for quite a while now, but if even EA with need for speed can make a car sound like a car the self described real driving simulator should manage it.
Don't forget that this is only a demo, not the finished game. This was released just to keep the impatient happy till the full game arrives.

Try altering some of the driving settings, turning offtraction control, setting the driving to pro etc.

I switched everything to max realism and everything else off....its the only way to be... Like I said in my original post I hope they use the extra time to good effect and sort out some of the things I have a problem with, Grand valley is my favourite fictional circuit of all time (since GT1 back in the day)and I would love nothing more to unleashed on it again with good physics and nice handling. But with the current state of the demo I don't see it equalling Forza motorsport in either respect. Maybe a good force feedback steering wheel would sort those out its how I play forza and how I would play GT but I also have played it with a pad and theres still a fine control and tactility to Forza that GT is currently without. GTs car and track selection will obviously demolish anything the competition has to offer.

Re: gt5: prologue

Lets not forget the game developers read things like this in the dedicated GT forums, and and gamers do get listened to. I bought a Ps3 just for this game and I am well chuffed. I have played the game solid for the last few days and I now have the Ferrari F1 2007, and it only has limited uses online, you have to turn the performance down to 650, which is quite hard to do. But its still a cool car to own. And on the GT-TV section there will be the new series of Top Gear and various Japanese motoring progs to watch. Its still early days yet and the problem with updates will change when they get bigger servers to cope with the demand. It took me a few goes to update but it did it in the end. I've also heard that the proper game will have lots more cars than before, if you remember in GT2 there was puntos and cinq's, well they should be in the full game, and lots more 80's european classics like the cossie, fingers crossed. All in all a great game worth the price, and worth the wait.

Re: gt5: prologue

will the proper full game have 2nd hand cars?

ive always loved GT games, but i just wish theyd have damage on! would be 100x better if u had to be more careful not to crash/loose a wingmirror nudging people. then having to repair your car etc

Re: gt5: prologue

i lost many hours of my life to GT1 in the late 90s.

the only thing that really bugged me about that game was the way your wheel would go through the arch when you dropped the suspension, obviously you could only see if on the replay, but it still drove me crazy, and often lead to the tv getting a good kicking.

Re: gt5: prologue

Yep there will be second hand cars in the full game, I've also read that the developers are toying with the idea of damage, also there will be the Top Gear test track to race on. If you've only played the game on the PS1 OR 2 you will really be supprised at how much has changed. Sorry about the quality of the pics.

Re: gt5: prologue

And I've just found this on the forum that I got to, " Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi has revealed that a "major update" is coming for Gran Turismo 5 Prologue later this year, which will add among other things long-awaited vehicle damage. In an interview with CVG this afternoon, Yamauchi said that the update will also have a big focus on enhancing Prologue's online modes, starting with the addition of various "community building features". So damage looks like a probability.

Re: gt5: prologue

anyone got a dualshock controller? racing games like these cry out for the rumble feature so you can feel when you're just on the rumble strip etc
is it recommended? whats it like in other games too? i'm eyeing up a white one using money from me birthday.
