360 update, july 07

theres a new update for the 360 backward compatability list available from the xbox site,.,
anyone updated already? i dont have any blank disc to hand so havent done mine yet,. are there any other changes to the console other than the backwards list? like dashboard etc?.,

what you doing with it? when it comes to it you wont remember where everything goes.,lol

nothing to em.case,dvd drive,mobo and thats about it bar a couple of seperate case parts.HD and PSU are external.
was gonna flash it but ive tried everything and it looks like my pc mobo/bios is just not compatible

okay just for you i rebuilt it once i found all the bits lol
freaked out at 4 red lights but forgot to plug in the AV cable
updated but doesnt seem any different really.need to renew my live as its expired lol

i did that with the AV cable a few times and got a fright aswell.,lol., i take it your warrenty is now viod from opening it?
so no changes to anything else other than the list huh., i dont think ill bother updating then coz i dont have any of the new games on the list., i herd somewhere that there was a new dashboard thing for the 360 and i thought it would be in the update, is that a LIVE thing then? coz i havent had mine on live yet.,

yeah warrenty is void but what the hey it was near out of warrenty till M$ beefed it up but my risk

i was thinkin of modding mine aswell, only visually and to help cooling though and it was out og warrenty untill last week aswell.,

im thinking about cutting away parts of the body and replacing with micromesh, or even drill more holes in it to help circulation,., my 360 gets ridiculously hot but havent had any trouble with it yet, it gets so hot that when im in my room and its off the room is cold, the way i like it but after a few mins it gets really warm in there and combined with a DLP projector i just added i wont be needing any more gym trips with the sweat id loose in here.,lol., then i was thinking about painting it matt black or something to make it look kinda stelthy,. do ya think it would make any difference by making the console more breathable?

yeah can do,or more fans.problem there is noise factor
could go water cooling if your really into it.fair few done it now.
plenty of 3rd party cooling solutions as well

i actually have one of them flexible USB fan thingy in it at the moment, it plugs into the USB port where the controllers go and i bend the fan around to what would be the underneath of the console if it was standing up, i think it makes a difference as i can feel more hot air coming out of the back of it., i dont think id be bothered by the added noise of fans, the disc drive isnt exactly quiet anyway. ,thats another thing, are newer 360s quieter? or have better/quieter disc drives?

the newer 360 drives are reputed ot be a bit quieter

i got mine replaced under warranty the other week and was hoping it would be quieter, unless its was in stock for a while but i doubt it

well theres a fair few prople who say there quieter.however M$ have changed drive manufacturers a few times plus benq bought out LG so there could have been a fair few changes

im thinking of getting a newer drive then, will have to have a look at other peoples newer consoles just to see if theres any difference. also does anyone know if a new drive would just plug and play or is there some sort or software trickery to them?
i wondering if the elite will be as noisey as this console aswell., if not then i might concider getting that.,

nope you cant change the type of drive as its tied to the mobo
