What's the best shooting game to get? (PC)

Coming to the end of my academic year so will have some time to kill. What war-based fighing game is 'best' currently?

Run a server most nights - actually spent 11 hours on it yesterday from 11am until around 10.30pm, with a quick break for lunch.

Usually run a cycle of maps, 15 maps [first to 8 and map moves on] - and apart from my mate playing, we add BOTS. Last night was 6 vs 6

I got bored of CS:S along time ago now... is an amazing game mind you, kept me occupied for a good year or two !

I have also been playing HalfLife2: Deathmatch as well - now that is CRAZY, especially on some of the French servers, lololol.

I've played it and it didn't excite me, I want something for single player really

Single player then maybe that Chernobyl game ? I haven't played it but I have heard it's long and rewarding.
COD 3 is out on PC isn't it ?

I think Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl looks a little "out there" for me, I like good old 'realistic' sims. There was a game recently like Brothers in Arms but I can't remember its name?

Battlefield?

Had that too, really don't like it, much more recently than BF2, looked more of a story based war game like Hill 42 or whatever that is called.

I agree, the standard for all others to be judged by. Even though I say it myself I was simply the best multiplayer I ever seen.

Vietcong wasn't too bad either..
