PS2 playing up

I didn't know PS2s have a HDD..?

I hadn't done anything different, just popped a disc in and worked no problem.. oh well, I may never know..

normal PS2 not the slimline, you need the network adaptor, a HDD and a copy of HD Advance

Too expensive to get all that stuff - I'll just stick with the disc

cost about the same as 1 game (if you have a HDD lying about) then you get all your games free

Even my Xbox [not the 360] has a 200GB HDD in it

yeah i have a HD in my chipped ps2.dvd drive plays up but it can rip to the HD and play from that.
however compared to the xbox its pig slow and the dvd ripping software isnt as good

also noticed that, setup an FTP server on the PS2 and wack games across from the PC

why would i bother when the xbox does it all so much better

ive heard of all this original xbox modding but what are the real benefits? and are there any cons in modding it? i think i remember hearing about some media centre stuff also., i still have my original xbox since it was lauched and its in perfect nick so was thinkin of having a tinker with it., it has the joytech screen on it aswell., will that still work through the AV socket after modding it?

Modded xbox's are the ******, mines got a Xecuter 3, 160gb hdd and running Xbmc.
