Hi. I recently purchased a 1982 French Fiat Fiorino and I am going through the process of importing it so that I can legally drive it in the UK.

I need to provide the engine number but I have not been able to find it. Any advice greatly appreciated.

I cannot post any links to photos as this is my first post.

Thanks

The engine number will be on the engine itself in one of two places.
Either on the end of the cylinder head, beneath the oil filler (903 engine) or on a flat bit at the top of the engine block, again just under the oil filler.
The oil filler is on the left hand side of the engine, looking from the front, on the smaller earlier cars and on the right hand side on bigger/later cars.
On the Fiorino (at least, on mine) there is a vin plate on the transmission tunnel, near the handbrake, but I don't recall the engine number being on it.

Thanks for taking the time to respond Dan. I will have another look and take some photos for here.

Looking at that image the 3rd line down seems to be your vehicle type and chassis number (03381081), so the bottom line looks like it's your engine number (7052160). Can't be sure though. Have you emailed a Fiat dealership with the picture and asked them to confirm, might be easier as they 'should' know which line relates to what on the ID Plate.

Botom line is nr. for ordering original spares (ricambi).
It's not the engine number I'm afraid...

Just use the chassis nr. for the engine number as well, who cares anyway...common practice with motorcycles...

Thought the ID plates that had the spares part number had 3 lines at the bottom not two, seeing as this is a 82 ID plate ??

some numbers are written somewhere in the engine bay on the front part of the car which holds the headlamps and it looks like a pinned card, this usually indicates the VIN, another place is somewhere on the engine itself or the engine cover if the car has one or on the coolant container or another place around, usually this indicates the Engine/Motor number, another place is somewhere in the trunk, it will contain some info related to the car, one more place will be on the inside of the car somewhere on the cabin floor, at last the final location which is on the gas tank filler cover but this only indicates the tire info as the size, load and the correct air fill pressure

sometimes carved numbers on the engine or anyplace will lose their colors and appear to be invisible and have the same color of the plate they are located on or have accumulated dirt/oil/etc..., so try to figure them closely and write them down for easier look up

As an update, I searched high and wide and couldn't find anything so I just used the 7052160 from the metal plate on the (V55/5) used vehicle import pack. Went through fine.
