Hi everyone, I've just changed the engine in a fiorino multijet, I've had the engine fired up and running nicely, I took the battery off to charge it as my mate had totally flattened it.
Upon putting it back in, it now won't crank, ( immobilised) and the key isn't doing anything, I've found the cobra alarm box, but there's no label with code.
I'm wondering if I go to the breakers and find one with details (code number) would I need the keys as well, or are they programmable?.
Also would I need anything else ?. I know on my LR I would need becm, clocks, locks ect.
Any help is appreciated.

If it's a Cobra, sounds like an after-market fitted device. Can't you just disconnect it from the system and fire up without it?

That's what I'm doing, when I did a bit of digging, seems that fiat had a deal with cobra, the owner didn't even realise it had a alarm, I found the book, no remotes, it works from the fiat key, but that's doing nothing either,, you can enter a code manually but of course, no sign of that either..

if you are getting dash warning lights on and the key /code/padlock light stays on then the immobilizer isn't recognising the key in the ignition.

Usually these days The immobilizer is a separate system to the alarm and built into the ECU (together with a few other bits)
You need an automotive locksmith or fiat dealer.

When connecting or disconnecting battery make sure ignition is off and has been off for at least 5 mins before hand.

Update, alarm has been removed, van now turns over but only fires for a few seconds, the central locking isn't working,, I'm going to investigate tomorrow,,
Does the key have to be paired with the car again ?

If key light on dash not going out then key not recognised or immobilizer fault.
Try having key/s paired to car.
