Today I'd planed to replace the off-side top strut bearing and before removing the strut I decided to make sure I had access to the top 3 bolts of the strut which required removal of the wipers. I've bought and tried 2 different types of wiper removal tools

Halfords http://www.halfords.com/workshop-tools/tools/hand-tools/laser-wiper-arm-removal-tool

Eurocarparts http://www.eurocarparts.com/windscreen-tools/searchkeyword/Wiper arm

but after 3 hours I still can't get them off. The problem appears to be the back of the wiper is recessed approx. 10 to 15mm below the plastic Scuttle Panel. The only way I can see to get it of maybe to cut the plastic to get the eurocarparts removal tool deeper..............

Needless to say this weekend shall be concentrated on getting the wipers off and the bearings shall have to wait.

The joys of motoring..............haha. Trust the bearing you got is the 'new' type, with the total rubber seal/cover which fits over it, and under the fixing bolts ? Should be, I guess most of the old original ones have been used up by now..........probably find before long the other side will fail and need replacing.
The seal keeps the water out the top................thats where it gets in and causes failure.
Good luck with the wipers..........
Cheers Qube O.

Using the Halfords style removal tool http://www.halfords.com/workshop-tools/tools/hand-tools/laser-wiper-arm-removal-tool (prongs pointing to the rear of the car) I forced the plastic down and got the tool around the back of the wiper arm. (Outside temperature is 1 degree above freezing plastic barely pliable ) I tightened the tool as tight as I could by hand and left for approx. 30mins spraying a couple of times with WD40. Still would not shift. I then gave it a half-turn tighter only with a wrench, 5 minutes later it popped off itself.
I did notice it was put on with Locktite which made it feel as if it was seized. Anyway next week I'll now be able to attempt the top strut bearing

Hi fiatfior , I don't understand why its that hard , plus a removal tool , I've replaced mine , with just a tap with a rubber mallet in between the nut and where it folds, it just popped out, easy.

One thing though ,don't clean the windscreen, makes easier putting them back in the original position.
