I was adjusting the clock on the Fiorino the other day and just presssed to go into some of the options. Surprised to see when I clicked on 'Service' and it said "0 miles" I'm guessing this means 'due'.

Shouldn't a service notification appear on the multifunction display in advance of a required service rather than me going to look for it? In my SOH's Mini she's getting warnings from about 1000 miles before it's due, to the point of annoyance!

In the manual it gives different distances between services, 20,000 for petrol and the diesel is longer between. I'm up to 38,000 (since June last year) and I know from the OBD readout that there's a problem with a pressure differential between the two sides of the DPF which needs fixing. It won't regen (or seems not to) which might (I'd have though) cure the problem, a pressure difference would suggest it's cacked up surely? The guy at the garage (private one as per a photo ref DPF removal) says he can force a regen. Why is the car not so intelligent that it could do its own regen when a problem arises? Too much technology eh..

I'm putting in the K&N filter today sometime but think I'll book the service for this weekend even though it's below the recommended mileage, even for the diesel second service.

Correct, but this is assuming it was reset at the last service. If not it'll sit at 0.

At least this is how most other Fiat models work.

Not forgetting the all important oil change.....now at 10.000 mile, not the original 20.000.

I fitted the K&N air filter this morning and what a difference that made! Much more sparkly performance.

I checked the oil level just out of interest and although it was topped up to full, the oil was v e r y black. I think service is imminent now.

We flush every diesel that comes through work well unless it's done a heap of miles and sounds like a bag of nails that is and never have a problem ,
Did ask the dealer when took mine in for some warranty work and they said fiat recommend it .
I did originally take a lot of persuading to start flushing as was of the school of "leave the crap in there as they run better " but it really seems to help with keeping egr's and manifolds clearer etc

Where has this come from, and for which engines out of interest

According to my dealer it applies to the engine in my Qubo, 1.3 MJD, as to what else I have no idea.
Apparently Fiat changed the recommended oil change interval a while ago. Connected with the few cases of cam chain failure............or so I understand.

Fair enough, a fair few 1.3's do seem to be having timing chain issues now :(

They really are worth the money for a quick performance boost, coupled with a chip box you can't go wrong

My garage man also said that even with clean oil in, after a short time (with a diesel) it will be black again. Par for the course.

Correct, this has always been the case, often within only 100 miles or so. But not cleaners will stop this, it'll do it from new.
