Good morning all, and happy easter :).
As im new to diesel machine, i would apprecciate some advises about service, what to take notice about the machine etc.
For example, what is the normal km to do a small service/check up?
Do i have to do something specific after some km?
What is the best choice for oil for a diesel ( for the fiorino 1.3 euro5 )?
Any other advice would be appreciated too.

The only thing that i know, is i have to put the better quality diesel (V-power from shell ) in gas station, because here the "normal" is very low quality and do damage to machine.

I know that the book service give some advises about all the stuffs im worried about, but i prefer to know from all the people that use in everyday condition the car and not in theoritically.

Hi Skillage, No doubt you will get other excellent replies from members as to specific oil spec, it does need to be the right oil, fully synthetic. As to how often, depends on use of the car but owing to camchain failures, oil changes are now recommended every 5-7000 mile, regardless of what the handbook says.

PS, Happy Easter to you too.........

Cheers Qube O.....

Eek! I had my first change at the first service (tad over 20k) although I'd intended doing a change myself earlier (this from new). I was totally put off by the under-bonnet complexity which is not so much the mechanics of an oil change but the resetting of the computer which from reading many posts about Fiat in general, seems to be put there mainly to put off the interested home mechanic and possibly to assist the Fiat service station. Maybe make sales of OBD readers too?

However, if there are failures of any part which might have been spared by an earlier oil change, that's Fiat's baby if I do at least have things done at the specified time so my side of the bargain is kept.

Hi R-V-M,
Must admit under the bonnet is a total mystery compared to the old simple engines. I too have had my oil changed in accordance to the service book/schedule, at 20.000 mile intervals, so should any problems occur would expect Fiat to sort it. However it would appear that Fiat in this situation are not over helpful..............and now believe that the oil should be changed evey 5-7000 mile regardless.

So I have altered my servicing to a every year oil change, I do about 6000 a year, in the hope that I may avoid any camchain problems.

Cheers Qube O.;);)
