the start-stop feature works intermittently. this is the feature that stops the engine when you come to a stoplight, and starts it when you release the brake on the green light.

as a side note, we drive the car infrequently, sometimes only every 3-4 days, othertimes more so. the car always starts up, but im sure it is charging the battery after doing so to top it off.

i looked into the start-stop wiring diagram in the 1.3 multijet schematics manual and one of the inputs into it (start-stop system) is one from the alternator.

if the alternator is actively charging, could that be why the system is not working? does anyone know?

thx

Old post, but wonder whether the stop/start is inactivated when the DPF is regenerating?

If you only drive the car infrequently, like we do the DPF will clog and need regeneration. Ours does the same, another thing I've noticed is that the cooling fan comes on needlessly - when it's freezing outside and then engine temp is normal and you're driving slowly! Apparently another sign that the DPF is regenerating.

Have serious doubts about long term viability of owning a DPF fitted diesel and doing only short trips in it!

Our biggest regret is buying a diesel :( with wife's travel to work it regents constantly over 60mph when I take it out.

how do you know when it's regenning?

also, what conditions have to be met before a regen occurs (ie, driving over a certain speed?)

You get to feel it, biggest signs are cooling fan on, exhaust heat and noise, mpg drops by 10 and our cars throttle response changes, it becomes a little lumpy.
Regen occurs when it feels constant travel over 60mph, (from my experience) I've been doing some millage this weekend and it's regen'd twice :(

Twice in one journey? I brought my Qubo from Leicester to SW France via Portsmouth,I never noticed it regenerate once.

Is there a maximum number of times it can regenerate before needing replacement?
