Fiat 500 Abarth SS 160 Hp Coming in November

It's been in the rumourmill for sometime now, however, at a media preview for the new Abarth 500 held in Turin, FIAT have finally confirmed speculation that a new more powerful 500 will be released - possibly as early as November this year.

This will come as great news for anyone who thought 135BHP wasn't going to be enough - with the new upgraded turbo-charged 1.4l engine putting out a massive 160BHP.

Called the "esse-essee" kit (read SS) - along with the engine, it also includes a number of mechanical and visual improvements to the car and can either be fitted as an option at time of purchase, or, retro fitted up to one year after purchase, or 20,000km on the road.

I think this is great news, although probably not for me. The only thing that worries me is that almost every FIAT for years has been criticised for having a poor ride. They must be able to look at whatever their rivals are doing and nick some ideas for themselves.
They've improved in almost every way, so why not this one. Although to be honest I don't think this type of car is where we will find it.
I'm not just having a moan, because I'm a true Italophile. Italian cars, 'bikes, food, women (don't tell the wife) wine, beer, in fact just about anything connected with Italy.
What I would like is for FIAT et al. to be talked about in the same way as BMW, Audi and Merc and VW.
Mind you, if they were, all the knobs that drive those kind of cars would be on this site. Doh!

the GP abarth SS didn't make it past this stage, despite the 'official press release'. i wonder if this one will make it to the forecourt.

Cant be the abarth cos they havnt even finnished building it yet have they. Anyway could be better with a 1.6 turbo.
