does anyone know what the 4 coils are called that start the engine, as my bravo has started losing power and i think i need to replace one, but not sure where to go from here and whether anyone knows if you can buy them from a scrapyard? Thanks

best thing to do it get to ur local motor factors (that saying if ur any good with tools) and get urself a new set of spark plugs.

if that fails...then take it to ur mechanic befor eu buy anything else as ull just be wasting money.

What size engine do you have?

There are two types. Coil packs found on 1.2/1.4/1.6 They are before the spark plug leads in a single block

and single Ignition coils. found on 1.8 and HGT
These are on top of the spark plugs, there is one for each cylinder.

You can easily test either with a multimeter saving time and money.

Thanks for your replies. It's a 1.8, i think it is the ignition coil as this has happened twice before, the first time i took it to a garage to fix and the second time the AA guy told me which one it was and i fixed it myself...not sure whether i'd be able to do it this time without knowing which one it was, is there a way of finding out without that machine? And also if i go to a fiat dealer and buy one does one size fit all? Is the fiat dealer the cheapest place that i'd be able to get one?

You can get a digital multimeter/voltmeter for less than £5.00 I saw one in The Range for £3.99 yesterday.

Ok thanks, i'll try and find one. Does it read the voltage or something similar, will the broken one not give out a reading, is that how i will tell? This is the third one that will have been replaced on my bravo it's a 1997 HLX and i've had it for the last 3 years, have i just been unlucky or do you think they maybe something wrong with the engine or something?
