lol i whent to carcraft today with our lass to look for a new car and we saw this silver mazda RX8 230 so we took it for a test drive and both agreed we liked it, it got to signing the papers, we signed everything , filled bank details out etc, then whent for some dinner while we waited to be accepted, we got the call lol, sorry mr calvert we can only offer you £4500 over 3 years , im like what the duck, WHY i said, do you know the reason!

because we buy houses to sell we have had to many adresses in the past 3 years! the car was only £12995 its not like we wanted £40,000 lol
what a set of bankers

because i move house every 6 months its near impossible to get a standed loan lol , daft i know but like i said to our lass everything happens for a reason lol

theres a helpful comment!
G5een, when you grow up and come out into the real world, you'll find its not all black and white. if it were no-one would have a house. i'd like to see you save up £150,000 or more to buy a house because you wont take a loan for it!
where you gonna live over the 30 years it takes you to save up that kinda money!

if you want nice things you have to go out and get them, it isnt about not having the money at all anyway pal its about holding on to youre money and spending the banks lol

Matt, cars and houses are usually the 2 most expensive things people will ever buy in their lives. so yeah, i think you CAN compare them.

So what would happen if someone doesn't have a car, but gets a job that requires them to be mobile? maybe visiting elderly people in their homes across an entire region? Should they not take the job because they cant pay for the entire car out of their cash savings, or should they take out a loan over a couple of years and pay for it out of their salary every month?
All i'm trying to highlight is that you cant reasonably expect everyone to pay for such large expenses up front. G5een, I wish you luck in paying for all your cars and homes up front, in cash all your life. I'm confident howeer that you'll go out one day and buy a car on some sort of finance, and your attitude will be totally different. For the record, i've owned 4 cars in my life so far and have only paid for 2 of them up front and in full. The world didn't end when i took out a loan for the other 2. So thats lucky.

@ Donny, maybe it was providence that your loan was refused? The big yin has a plan for us all, or so i'm told. :)

i think it was lol im defonatley gunna get a mazda RX8 but not yet theres still some life left in my little merc yet lol.

the thing was ace, it had a motorised screen in the dash full leather recaros and drove like a dream, just a perfect car for going to meetings in lol

lol have you drove 1? they are amazing forget youre V tech and turbos the Rx8 revs to 9grand and loves every minute of it lol a real drivers car 231bhp at the wheels standed without a turbo impresses me lol and its practical lol well for kids anyway lol

how many lol's :)

@donnylad, you wont say that when it needs a rebuild ever 70k instead of just a cambelt, the wankel engine is very expensive to run.

I in part (not entirely) agree with green, when it comes to cars for personnal use anyway, i have always saved and paid for my cars upfront but thats mainly because i dont know how much money i will have from day to day, if/when i have a regular income, then i am sure my oppinion will change and i will happily take a loan, although saying you are saving your money and spending the banks isnt strickly true either, as you will pay it all back with interest so you do pay more. a car that is 12k isnt quite a 150k house, although i understand the principle you are using, but think you are being abit extreme!

if you look arround you can find loans wich if you pay back early you only pay back what you borrowed + small fee so if i want the money for something else at that time i can get both things and pay the loan off later, so you are spending youre money but not straight away as you never know when ure gunna need a bit of cash
