Brava 1.6 16v 1998 - when turning on ignition, petrol pump pours large quantity of petrol into injector which then causes injection rail end plug to blow out, the car will only start if plug is held in by hand. Car is being over fuelled - what and where regulates amount of fuel between fuel pump and engine?
 
The fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail.

The fuel pressure of injection systems is very high, 45-60psi or more.
 
Is it built into the rail or a seperate item? If seperate can you please advise where it is located - Thank You
 
i have a fuel rail with ancilaries up for grabs if needed.

i could have it rebored and fit bigger pistons but its easier just to put anoter motor in it took it out completly last night. did it in 3 hours :) im getting pretty quick at removing bravo engines lol.

new one should be in sunday monday... putting a mk2 engine with 40k but am gonna have to use all the mk1 inlet manifold etc cos the mk2 has a non return fuel injection system so wont work on my ecu (engine is good cos its out a m8's car and i know its been serviced and gen milage). having the mk1 gearbox on it though as its got quicker ratios (i think).

Probably the best option. You start off thinking 'just need a rebore' and end up replacing most of the engine :)
 
u know me pretty well lol. at the min i just need it to go that is the only requirement. i will prob rebuild the other engine at a later date when i have a bit more cash to play with and stick it in someones unfinished project kit car for a bit of a fun weekend car. i was really surprised how light the whole engine was even with the gear box attached. i didnt have use of an engine lift this time. it was a case of put a jack under the block and lift the car over, surprisingly it was pretty easy to get out that way.
