Hi, of late the bravo doesnt like third being pushed in third gear. It hits about 45- 50 and starts to judder and stutter a little, its not so prominent in the other gears?
Im quite worried about it, could it be the cat or the manifold gasket? either or i really dont have a clue, im not mechanically minded!
All help is greatly appreciated
Thanks
Stu

What engine would help ;)
How old are the plugs, leads, filters, oil ?

i reckon the plugs are fine, the other day the car just cut out ( i didnt even realise) then when it started up again it was choking and coughing. Revved it and it seemed to clear a blockage and as it did the fuel guage went up slightly!! i was wondering if it could be the fuel breather pipe ( or similar) that could be blocked so making the engine stutter and be a bit reluctant? Also when i take my petrol cap off ocacasionally it makes a "tcssssssh" noise as if thers a vaccuum!
Im at a loss!

All fuel tanks must have a air hole so no vacuum can be made in them - if your tank lets out sounds like that, then you have ansvered your Q - the air hole on the gas tank is blocked/or half blocked.
I dont know where it is. Tom will know I think.

Had similar problem, changed the plug leads and was fine.

yeah mine lets out a lot of pressure too, when i take the petrol cap out.

There is no vent to the outside air on the bravo tanks. The system is closed, all the vapors are collected in the charcoal can and recycled stopping the nasty smelly petrol fumes from harming baby seals or other such hippy crap. :)

ie what you're hearing is normal.

I get a wiff of petrol every now and again while driving with the window down?? any idea where this charcoal filter is Tom and if i can change it?
cheers.....justin

So what do you think this juddering, hesistance is? Do you reckon new plug leads might help or? Really dont have a clue?!
Cheers

If it was plugs/leads wouldn't that effect things all the time? As it is you say its third gear when the problems occur.

Tom's correct (as usual) about the fuel system and the same point applies, why third gear in particular?

Unless you can DIY then you need someone that knows cars do check it out. Do you get an injector warning light come on whilst driving?
Thing is even if you did, it could still be hard to find the actaul fault.
Sounds like a trip to a decent garage or Fiat specialist will be necessary, especially as you've had the obvious culprits serviced.

Maybe something intermittent of course, always the hardest things to find, usually because the fault never happens in front of witnesses!

Not much use I know. Only real advice is to check the obvious again before spending big bucks at a garage!
Hope to read you get it sorted!

I get this also on my car sometimes when I try to pull away from a junction. it just judders and shakes and feels like its gonna stall so have to allow more revs to get it rolling and then it goes away :(

had the car out with my mechanic , he had a drive and he said its nt the plug leads he reckons i should get a diagnosis done but i think it feels mechanical?! will this show up on a diagnosis?
Thanks
