Brake Disc's

Brake Disc's

Its up to you.

Remember paying more for brakes won't make your car stop any faster, nor will fitting huge Brembos.

The only benefits to better brakes are reduced brake fade and looks. If you want to pay extra for these benefits then go for it.

Personally I went for OE discs when mine were shot because I had no problems with brake fade and I don't particularly care about the looks.

If it helps Tom recomends Red.Dot discs and pads. Try motorsportworld.co.uk.

Edit: And get 6 groove if you want the Red.Dot ones. Btw what size is your engine?

Ok cheers mate. Mines a 1.6 (s). To be honest not that bothered about looks etc.. just want some good quality discs to replace mine as they are getting a little low and saw them. Don't really no what a good price for such an item would be. Whats the advantage of drilled and grooved over non drilled and grooved if any ?

When you brake frequently gases build up between the pads and discs which means they won't work as well because the pad cannot make contact with the disc.

Drilled and grooved discs allow the gases to escape so brake fade becomes less of a problem.

Drilled brake discs are prone to cracking though because of the holes.

If you notice brake fade and it is a problem then sure go for some 6 grooves but to be honest you won't really have bad brake fade whilst driving normally.

I personally don't think that brake fade is that much of a problem on our slow Bravos ;). If you had a 600bhp skyline or something then yeah, brake fade might be a problem.

I had a quick look on buypartsby and you can get 2 brake discs for a 1.6 for £20 so a quarter of the price compared to Red.Dot etc. Just go to the garage who would do them and tell them to give you a price for 2 OE brake discs plus fitting.

Edit: I should add that this is my opinion but my mechanic recomended exactly the same. He said bluntly when I asked about Red.Dot brakes "Its a waste of money on a Bravo 1400" :(

np, spend it on something more worthwhile like a bodykit or something, unless you have enough money it makes no sense to waste it on something which gives no performance advantage and can hardly be seen, imo.
