Just wondering if any of you have experienced a similar problem.
Occasionally when I change into first gear the power steering cuts out for about 10 seconds and the accelerator seems to brake instead of accelerate.
Its happened 4 times now, 3 times at a mini roundabout (the same one each time) and once turning off a road.
That one was a bit scary because I was going round the corner, power steering goes and im heading into the traffic. Managed to pull it round though so no accidents so far.

Im wondering what the problem might be and how much is it approx. to get it fixed.

Did U check the oil level for the steering ?
Does the car loose power in that period, or does the rpm fall down ?
+ car model ?

i'd be tmepted to say somethign else was goign on at the same time? lol

engine doesnt stall or anythgin?

my fiat was a bit liek that when one of the injectors went, but you coudl hear it missing loads

i had some dodgy moments when power steering went too!
