My 1.2 failed MOT today, the geezer ses its the break pipes corroding and that this is a common problem with Fiats, my mums punto got re-called for the same thing, he sed if you ring the Fiat garage and tell them thy should do it for nothing, what do you reckon the chances are?

Plus has anyone else had this problem?

Metal parts corrode as they get old. Fact of life.

brake pipes are cheap. fitting less so, but not too much. Unless your car is under warranty, which is massively unlikely, you'll be payin the bill i'm afraid...

Just got quoted at the Fiat Garage - £162.60, il just buy the pipes and get a chap to do em i reckon!

Out of interest where were the pipes corroded? Just been giving my poor car its pre-mot once-over and the lines under the car look pretty much as they should.

Maybe fiat did their usual thing of randomly changing parts.

Mine were supposed to be the ones on the back axle, but once they had them off, they found the front to rears were gone as well. I saw them and they were well goosed. 1999 with 54000 on the clock.
