Recommended interval of timing belt change

First I would like to say you have a nice forum on Bravo/Brava & Marea stuff.

One thing I wonder is that for some countries the recommended interval of timing belt change is 120.000 km (or 6 years) while for some others it is only 60.000 km (or 3 years). In my understanding the longer is valid in UK. The cars are about the same everywhere (at least within the EU region), anyhow.

What is the correct interval? Have your cars travelled the whole 120.000 km before the change? What was the condition of the belt and tensioner after that mileage?

I have a 1.6 Marea travelled about 58.000 km, and the recommended change interval is 60.000 km. The question is: when must I change the belt and tensioner?

5 years or 60k is what most seem to recomend.

Yes the tensioner must be done as well, you must remember it has a bearing in it which is sealed and they don't last forever. Most 'cambelt' failures are probably tensioner or fanbelt related rather than the actual belt going snap.

Just having mine replaced at 97000 km.
Do not exceed the limit of 5 years - 4 is sufficient
The tensioners last about 100 000 km, but change them sooner.
Around 90 000 km - or less.
If U bought the car used, change all belts, tensioners - just to be sure
