Girlfriend has a 1.2 16v Bravo and it does approx 500 miles on a full tank (50litres), I have a 1.6 16v Marea and it too does 500 miles to a full tank, only in the Marea a full tank is 63litres, hope this helps?

unless you get the 2.0 litre HGT bravo, any bravo engine will do better mpg than the 1.4, its a really poor engine design, that for a 1.4 doesn't get very good power, or good mpg.

I own one as well, and are annoyed that I happened to get one with that engine, but I'm happy enough because it's a bravo and where I live they are rare, and look awesome.

If you're going to get a different engined bravo, then I'd suggest the 1.2, 1.6 or the JTD.
The 1.2 gets good mpg, and is quite nippy, it can also be remapped for cheap, to give it a bit more power, cheap to insure etc. as well. The 1.6 has a good balance between economy and power, it's very quick for a 1.6 engine! Then there's the JTD is you like diesels, great mpg, good power, and can also be remapped to crazy limits of power.

let me correct bill, the engine was a good design, when it was new, but is now superceded by much more sophisticated engines and control units. bear in mind that the 1.2, 1.6, 1.8 etc were all designed specifically for the bravo, whereas the 1.4 was pretty much what was in its predecessor, the Tipo.

apart from being a bit heavy on gas, its still a good motor for what it is..

I agree, the 1.4 is not a bad engine, but when you come to fuel comsumption it leaves a bit to be desired. Either you like it enuogh to put up with it or you dont. I own a 1.4 and will change to a jtd when the finances allow, until then it'll do.

once you get into tuning you might want a JTD, but that could just be me. theres potential for cams and a dastek with the 1.4, but remapoping a JTD is cheaper and easier, and its more powerful to start with :D

why use an old engine though?? 80bhp from a 1.4 is rubbish nowadays, fiat proved that by getting the same output from their 1.2.
