My car on e-bay has reached £1340 which is past the reserve and has 15 hrs 32 mins to run.
The top bidder has just been in touch and has offered me £1450 here and now....................

do I take the money and run or hope it gets that much anyway, bearing in mind, he is the top bidder and maybe no one else will bid, if its any help, there are 103 watchers......

No experience of such a machine but i do know ebay and i do know theres always last minute bidders, literally.

I'd hold out, its only £100 if no one else bids.

Good luck my friend.

Joske

You've already got what you want so why not wait for the last minute scramble to up the price. Should be fun! ;)

Inspite of however many watchers you've got, my decision would be based on the number of viewers you had. So close though. Prob best to hold out I reckon.

cheers guys, the only prob is...........if I wait till the end, I have to pay e-bay 5% of whatever the car makes, whereas if I withdraw it, I only pay the listing fee.........£26

Since when have you had to pay ebay comission on what you sell???

That's absolute cheese!! I've sold 16/17 cars on ebay, and not once have I had to pay commission on them. Only listing fee's at about £7.50 a pop.

I would accept it, but leave it listed until you have recieved the payment.

Your car would have to go up another £200 or there abouts (to £1550) for you to get the £1450 in your hand.

IAN......this is what the guy wrote to me.................."you would still have to pay the listing fee but not the end fee.so you would sve 5% of the sale valuei did it a few months ago"..........
I have never sold a car on e-bay, so I honestly would know

Latest message from him

"will you take 1450 for it and i can send a deposit via bank transfer tomorrow, and pick it up friday "

Dont do it, best waiting for auction to end normally, ive had the situation in the past when (would you believe) someone selling the same item asks me to sell privately to him, which i declined and then makes a bit with a new user account made that day at last minute and won, but guess what didnt pay!

also if anyone mentions western union bank transfers from ebay questions dont fall for it, its a scam, ive nearly been caught out selling the same product as above (2nd time i listed it) from someone saying can you send the product to nigeria for my grandma (it was a £150 surround sound system! lol) and he would pay £1000
the offer price was enough to laugh at for being a scam.

oh ye going back to your original question, i wouldnt you may get more at last minute

My experience on ebay has been you always get last minute bidders some good, some bad. But sometimes people see something they missed, bid on it, think it over and then decide not to pay. Its 50/50 if someone wanted it they would have already bid ( plus I hate snipers ) if you've got what you wanted for it, check out the guys feedback if its good, do the bank transfer.

His feedback is 131 positives, he lives in liverpool and has offered to pick it up friday.....my reserve was only £1300

I'd still say don't do it Patrick.

To be honest, I've not sold a car on E-bay for 6 months, but to my knowledge there is no end listing fee.

That's absolute BS!

Wouldn't everyone just take private offers on their cars otherwise?

I doubt the rules have changed, but if they have, I'll eat my hat.

Sounds like a scam to me.

Sounds good as someone said above if its normal bank transfer thats fine, it some sort of western union money steer clear

Stick with it mate, otherwise i'll bid on it and bump it up and see if he outbids me. LOL

This would be the first time to bump a bid.

On ebay you pay your listing fee, once the car has sold they charge you a final listing fee, FVF check it out. This is a certain percent of the sold for price to a maximum of about £30.

dont sell outside the auction. let him bid 1450. your reserve was only 1300 anyway! so anything over that is a bonus!

Final update. The top bidder had bid £1340, then contacted me privately and offered £1450 for a quick deal, I admit I weakened and accepted this. It turned out there were NO last minute bids, so the final offical price was £1340, I just hope he now sticks by his e-mailed offer of £1450.looking back, I should have got a mate to bid to his limit:(
