Hi,

I have been having an intermittent problem with my Fiat Bravo 1.2 SX (1999) for the past year. When I'm in low revs it hesitates and shudders, then at the weekend it got even worse and when I was about to turn into a petrol station the engine cut out. This happened about 15 times and when it was idle the engine was turning over quickly then stalling. I had to keep the revs high to keep the car going in traffic!!! This is an intermittent problem though so it's hard to reproduce!!! I have had several garages look at the car 6 months ago and apart from changing the spark plugs (which were already only 3 months old) they couldnt find anything wrong. Has anyone heard of this problem or is experiencing this problem as I just want to get the car fixed asap!!!

Thanks

Throttle body, either has a problem or is simply dirty. We have had good success with carb cleaner on dirty throttle bodies although some are disbeleiving ;)

Thanks for ur replies - I'll check that out at the w/e. Hopefully the cleaner will help! To get it replaced sounds expensive... I've had nothing but problems with this car since I got it 2.5 years ago!!!

Just be carefull mate, as this was happening to my 1999 1.2sx and although the carb cleaner worked to start with, a few weeks later it came back again and espec with the hesitating and juddering, and my timing belt went, just heard from the garage today and ALL of the valves are goosed on it!

so if u havent changed that on your car it may be wise to get it looked at!

worthwhile checking the HT leads also as a cracked one will cause similar issues (generally they crack deep in the plug housing so not apparent until you take them out )

This happened to me .
cheers
dave.
