Hi all,

Thanks for your advice on shock absorbers - have spoken to a local garage who quoted £100 to fit 4 new shock absorbers - agreed Bilstein best but advised to fit Bilstein springs at the same time. Is that a good idea and if so any springs in particular?

Thanks again.

Re: Untitled

Gemma, how many miles has your car done? Why did they recommend changing the springs too? If they are all damaged (i doubt it) then fair enough but unless you want uprated/lowered springs you should stick with the originals.
When i bought 4 bilstein shocks i got the boys at kwik fit to do it and bunged them £40 for the effort which went into their xmas fund. They can't put it through the books since they didn't sell them but they have always been more than helpful.

Re: Untitled

springs last for ever nearly, no need to change them unless you want to lower the car.

I run bilstein shocks all round with stock springs.

Re: Untitled

I bust a spring once, on a mk1 Fiesta 1.3 Ghia. Dunno how it happened ;) but it bust about 3/4 of the way up (or down depending which way you look at it)

Only ever done it once mind and dont know anyone else who has either
