1.6 Shocks?

I've had my x reg 1.6sx for about 6 months and the ride quality seems to be getting progressively worse. Feels very hard and the slightest bump in the road when cornering makes the back end feel a bit skittish. Is it just a case of new shocks; if so what would be people recommend?
Any pointers would be appreciated.

Bilstein gas shocks from www.motorsportworld.co.uk (but you need to phone them)

Re: Re: 1.6 Shocks?

are you keeping it the same ride hight or are you thinking of lowering it?

Re: Re: Re: Re: 1.6 Shocks?

Thanks Tom

it's a totally untouched 1.6 - I had read before buying the car that ride quality could be a bit lumpy at low speed so are my 4 year old shocks just on their way out already, or do Bravos just benefit from uprating? Also would you change all round or just the rears?

thanks again

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: 1.6 Shocks?

The bilsteins are standard OEM shocks, not uprated. They are gas rather than oil which does give a better ride.

Your shocks were probably on the way out a year ago.

From memory £160 gets you all 4 shocks.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: 1.6 Shocks?

The rears are a doddle, 50-60 from memory.
