My gearbox indicator sometimes blinks when I start. When that happens, I turn off the engine and start again and the blinking disappear.

What gives?

Auto Gearbox?

I presume you have the auto. The light has two functions. The first is to warn of over heating and it comes on fully to warn you to stop and let the whole thing rotate without load until the box cools down. The second function is an electronics test. If it finds a fault it blinks. The procedure is to switch off and restart. This will usually clear the blinking but the fault code is stored in the ECU. Then its down to the Fiat dealer for a download!!!!
