I have decided to try to organise a stand at the Santa Pod Retro Show again this year. We struggled a bit with getting the minimum number of cars last year, but I don't understand why.

The show is on 21st June 2015 at Santa Pod Raceway.

More information on the show is here

In their own words:

The Retro Show is a classic car and bike show with a difference: Unlike most shows where you park up in a field and sip tea, this is an action-packed day where you can take part in the racing and show & shine whatever type of retro machinery you have.

Retro Show is open to all retro vehicles including cars, bikes, scooters and lorries from the 1950’s to the 1980’s. Featuring: all day RWYB, Drag Demos, Show & Shine, Traders, Auto Jumble, Club Stands, Weekend Camping, Vehicles 4 Sale Paddock, Evening Entertainment, Fun Fair Rides and more.

If fuel injection, traction control, power steering, and 27 different airbags are your idea of motoring hell, then you’ll feel at home at the Retro Show. Here you’ll only find real cars and bikes with real style unmolested by Eurocrats. We are talking dirty-hands motoring for those who know how to check their oil, but like to use their cars on a daily basis too. Sounds good? See you there!

I've been to this show a few times, and it really is a great day out. Take warm clothing though, just in case we don't have a heatwave, as it gets very cold there.

You can just wander round 100's of retro cars & watch the drag strip fun, or pay to "run what ya brung" (sic). I still think it would be great fun to see some Panda's trundling down the strip (no-one has been brave enough so far), and we'd get our money's worth compared to something doing a quick 1/4 mile!

I have an application form ready to go, and will organise again as a joint Fiat Forum and Fiat Motor Club stand for insurance purposes.

I'm thinking about applying for the minimum 10 cars, but would prefer not to look silly by applying for way more than we are likely to get.

I appreciate people may change their minds etc, but can anyone interested please add themselves to the attendee list above? I'll make a firm decision over the space applied for in a couple of weeks, based on likely numbers.

One more thing, this isn't only for "classic" Panda's, even though I'm hoping to get some there. Anything I consider retro is fine - my definition isn't the same as outlined on their website. Based on other years, anything oldish, retroish, or interesting is fine. I wouldn't want to be faced with all the cars being outside their definition, but give me an idea of your likely vehicle & I'll keep an eye on this.

The stand I'm applying for will give us a space to park within the show (if you turn up without being part of a club you're shovelled off into public parking & aren't on display). You DO need to purchase a ticket as well as the stand pass - details are on the website and advance prices will still be valid until a week before the event.

Cost in advance is £12 for the Sunday only. I will be sending a booking form at the end of April (latest), and am happy to include anyone in this (I already have to pay a £6 booking fee for the stand, so there's no need to pay on a separate order) - I'll need you to sort me out the £12 plus enough to cover the postage, if you want to do it that way.

So, over to everyone - who's interested?

Cheers, Gavin. (y)

NO STAND THIS YEAR DUE TO LACK OF INTEREST.

I don't really think your Sedici falls under any known definition of 'retro'

Yes I'm sorry, it's going to be too new for this stand - I'm happy to stretch a definition, but I can't see it fitting into the theme. :(

Please do still come along and join in though, even if you can't park in the Retro area - why not buy a Classic Panda, then you can get into all the shows.

I have put my name down for this I know I can't put my car on stand of it being to new that's ok but is there away of parking close to you lot please :p

Im coming to the show but my punto jet black2 and panda 100hp defo not retro enough for the stand (n)
looking forward to seeing what you do get see you soon. X

Palio it's me automisprime here when do you want the money for this show I am certainly comming my name is down waiting for confirmation from you

Looks like only one or two takers?

Is this stand booking going ahead?

I organise the RTOC.org stand but I don't have a working Renault. So I thought I might go in my Cinquecento.

I already have a ticket and stand pass if I want, but I'd need somewhere to park other than the Renault area, so I thought a Fiat area might work, if there is one, and a 1994 to 1998 car was acceptable.

Cheers.

Sorry to say this, but due to a lack of interest we can't have a stand this year. Although it's been advertised on Fiat Forum and through the Fiat Motor Club, I have had no suitable cars put forward!! I needed to apply for a 10 car stand, and it seems to be just me & a couple of possibles.

What a shame...... :(

Clubcento are at Stanford Hall the following week for 'Summertime Classics', which incorporates and Italian concours competiton, that might be partly why you're not getting much response from what appear to be a very few Cento owners that go to events.

But what about the other Fiats and Fiat clubs?

This thread's been up since March and it was open to all classic FIAT, but yeah Stanford may be the reason many are giving this a miss.

It seems to be harder and harder to get people to go to anything, apart from a couple of AI events. A shame that interesting events get missed, but what can you do?

I'm doing Shelsley Walsh again this year & will put up another thread at some point. Maybe people prefer to sit in a field at Stanford with nothing to do - burgers are great though, but the actual event is a bit dull these days.

It's not just Fiats. RTOC was able to hire Mallory Park for it's self every year for five years, then Blyton Park for the following two. We also used to book Santa Pod just for ourselves on a Friday. Then people just stopped buying tickets. Last year and this year we didn't try and have an exclusive day.

Not many want to put their (now 24 to 31 year old) car on the track any more, or rip it up the strip.

The Retro show is RTOC's national meeting day this year and about 75 tickets have sold and I expect about 50 cars be on the stand. That's maybe a 6th of the number 10 years ago.
