After some discussion on the Classic Panda section, I have decided to try to organise a stand at the Santa Pod Retro Show this year. (y)

The show is on 22nd June 2014 at Santa Pod Raceway.

More information on the show is here

In their own words:

The Retro Show is a classic car and bike show with a difference: Unlike most shows where you park up in a field and sip tea, this is an action-packed day where you can take part in the racing and show & shine whatever type of retro machinery you have.

Retro Show is open to all retro vehicles including cars, bikes, scooters and lorries from the 1950’s to the 1980’s. Featuring: all day RWYB, Drag Demos, Show & Shine, Traders, Auto Jumble, Club Stands, Weekend Camping, Vehicles 4 Sale Paddock, Evening Entertainment, Fun Fair Rides and more.

If fuel injection, traction control, power steering, and 27 different airbags are your idea of motoring hell, then you’ll feel at home at the Retro Show. Here you’ll only find real cars and bikes with real style unmolested by Eurocrats. We are talking dirty-hands motoring for those who know how to check their oil, but like to use their cars on a daily basis too. Sounds good? See you there!

I've been to this show a couple of times, and it really is a great day out. Take warm clothing though, just in case we don't have a heatwave, as it gets very cold there.

You can just wander round 100's of retro cars & watch the drag strip fun, or pay to "run what ya brung" (sic). I think it would be great fun to see some Panda's trundling down the strip, and we'd get our money's worth compared to something doing a quick 1/4 mile!

I have an application form ready to go, and will organise as a joint Fiat Forum and Fiat Motor Club stand for insurance purposes.

I'm thinking about applying for 15 cars, but would prefer not to look silly by applying for way more than we are likely to get (I don't need any help looking silly! ;) ).

I appreciate people may change their minds etc, but can anyone interested please add themselves to the attendee list above? I'll make a firm decision over the space applied for in a couple of weeks, based on likely numbers.

One more thing, this isn't only for classic Panda's, even though I'm hoping to get some there. Anything I consider retro is fine - my definition isn't the same as outlined on their website. Based on other years, anything oldish, retroish, or interesting is fine. I wouldn't want to be faced with all the cars being outside their definition, but a couple of newer ones are fine by me. Bearing this in mind, an idea of likely vehicle would be helpful, so I can keep an eye on this.

Oh, just one more thing (sorry sounding a bit Columbo now  ), the stand I'm applying for will give us a space to park within the show (if you turn up without being part of a club you're shovelled off into public parking & aren't on display). You DO need to purchase a ticket as well as the stand pass - details are on the website and advance prices will still be valid until a week before the event.

So, over to everyone - who's interested? (y)

Cheers, Gavin.

7/6/14 the tickets for the cars have arrived - please remember you need to get a ticket for yourself (the ones I have only get you to the Club parking rather than the public car parks). Advance tickets close 13th June but you can pay on the day if you prefer.

20/06/14 Update:

The map has arrived!! (y)

Final destructions from Santa Pod are:

All vehicle hangers have been posted out. The colour of the hanger corresponds to the ‘zone’ that you are in. Please have the hanger on display as you arrive at the venue so that the marshals can direct you quickly.

The hanger must be completed with CLUB NAME, VEHICLE REGISTRATION and MOBILE NUMBER. The Club name is Fiat Motor Club (GB) & Fiat Forum.

Meeting Place:

Either make your own way to the show & follow the map & marshall instructions when you get there (aim to be in place by 10am ideally please).

Or some of us will convoy in from Tesco http://www.tesco.com/store-locator/uk/?bID=3380 Meet at 9am with an aim to leave about 9.10am please. If you're not there we won't necessarily wait for you, as we need to get to the show on time (this applies to me too, as I'm quite likely to be late! ).

Bugger. It's the same day as the Heritage Rally, from Gaydon.... :bang:

That's frustrating - hadn't seen the other thread, sorry. :bang:

I'll definitely be trying to arrange this one still though, as I think it has wider appeal - and I want to go! ;) We also were going to do this last year, but it clashed with AI or something :(

No problem! I actually think this has more appeal... -- so will close the other one down; and refer people to here...! (y)

:worship: You sir, are a gentleman & a scholar (not much of an acrobat though.....). (y)

All we've got to do is get people to sign up to this now! Maybe next year for your run?

I'm definitely interested in this, the only problems for me are I'd have to know Char's going to be all ready by then (niggles fixed, Tax'd MOT'd and insured) I'm hoping she will be ready sometime around May.
Its a bit of a drive too but not to bad. Will come if Char' is ready but not sure I can give a definite

I have sent in the application for this.

I applied for 10 cars as the 15 I hoped for don't seem to be signing up at present. It's a minimum of 10 cars, so let's make sure we get a good selection going. :worship:

We really want to have a good turnout, and it's one of the best events you'll go to this year. (y)

Do you want me to send this out to the MI mailing list (around 160 people, now...)?

Good idea, thanks. (y)

There is one person not on the Forum interested, so half a dozen spaces - though I could ask for more I'm sure. Need to be a bit wary of the age of the cars - anything interesting, old, or retro is likely to be ok though. :)

Will certainly try if I'm back from Scotland by then. :p

Your Panda (non specific as I don't know which you're taking!) isn't that slow, or are you expecting to have trouble at border control? :p

Would be nice to have Panto there, but I'd also like to take something older - if you or anyone else wanted to take Panto let me know. (y)

Panto would be great for this, especially on the strip , but isn't it too new?

No I don't think so - not based on previous years.

Have a look at the reports & galleries from the link in my original post. There are plenty of newer cars. Anyway if we have him sorted & the DVLA accept the engine change without playing silly beggers, I'll then be putting him on an "F" plate so he'll look a bit older!

Not convinced about the drag strip though tbh!!!
