Hang on a minute lads, I've had a great idea...

Plans have been brewing behind the scenes for something special to celebrate the sites 10th Birthday. But we think we've hit on something great.

Saturday 3rd/Sunday 4th May we'll be heading Oop North. The plan for Saturday is to rendevouz at Fort William for approx 10am before heading over the legendary Applecross road. Saturday evening we'll grab some food in Inverness before retiring for the evening. On Sunday we'll be heading back south as far as Forres, where we'll attending the Vintage Car Day as a club.

Full info, as you can appreciate, will follow but it'd be great to have an idea of numbers sooner rather than later so that we can get this event fleshed out.

So - who's all in?

Fort William to Appelcross means going thru Lochcarron were I live, and certainly all over the area nearby. :D
So count me in!!! Might be able to get a few others to join from the area, Fiat and non Fiat if you like.

Been rather inactive as my Punto has survived 3 accidents over past year so been rather put down, just working hard to keep the car together and get me to work. :(

But now the weather picking up got that buzz and feeling back to bring my Punto back to life :)

Rough plan from looking at AA route planner etc...

Saturday
Mike and I will set off from Alford at around 0630am on the Saturday - this should get us to Fort William for around 10am.

The plan is to meet at the Morrisons Car Park for 10am, leaving at approx 10.30am.

Morrisons postcode is PH33 6AN

There is a fuel station and McDonalds on site. Both, I suspect, will be required.

From Fort William we head north - A82 -> (head for Loch Garry) A87 -> A890 -> A896 until Tornapress where the turn off to The Applecross pass is signposted. Our next full stop will be the Applecross Inn. Postcode IV54 8LR Distance covered approx 105 miles

All being good we will stop here at approx 1.30pm/2.00pm.

I'd suggest lunch here as that will be around 3 hours driving. Smaller stops en route can be accomodated but remember we're in the middle of nowhere.

From Applecross Inn to Inverness is 80 miles - around 2hrs 30 mins driving.

Realistically I reckon we'd hit Inverness at around 5.30pm/6.00pm. From here we could do our usual and head for the nearest Weatherspoons. I gather parking in the city may be difficult so we can look at options when we get there.

Saturday night/Sunday (as per everyones own accomodation arrangements) the travel from Inverness to Forres is around 30 miles - 40 minutes trave time.

SUNDAY VENUE

Grant Park, Forress - Postcode :IV36 3BN

From what I remember chatting to Martin, and from the event website, gates open at 9am so we should aim to be in sharp to get a good pitch. The event is on until around 4.30pm at which point we call it a day.

Hope the above helps everyone - any questions please just ask and I'll try and help. Remember folks this is quite a long drive (I'm reckoning I'll have the panda on the road for approx 12 hours) so please remember to prepare accordingly. Take supplies, take whatever you think you'll need in the middle of nowhere.

Cheers,

450ish miles covered in a day in my little panda and she never missed a beat.

Applecross was awesome - pics and a video of the main drive to follow.

Yesterday marked 10 years of FS and I can't think of a better way to mark the occassion. Awesome drive, awesome company and great food at night to round off the day. Thanks a'body and looking forward to the show today in Forres :D

Good seeing everyone again and thanks for all the help!

Great weekender and some cracking photos/vids to follow. Ive put a few on FB and FS but I gather a few really good shots are still to appear.

All of the journey over applecross has been flmed - however at 37 mins long it's taken two hours (so far) to load into movie editor to speed up and slim the file down for upload. Yikes.

It was a cracking weekend all round and I'm looking forward to seeing the video of it. In the meantime here's a couple of photo's from the Applecross run. Only 3 of our cars attempted this however that was enough as the road is so narrow and the passing places only big enough for that number of cars. We'd have been quite unpopular if we'd had more

Meeting everyone in Fort William

We had 6 cars at the show in Forres and our stand attracted a fair bit of attention
