Hi All,

Ok, so I've gathered my 5 days of EcoDrive data in my new car... getting a score of 62/63 consistently. It seems that my acceleration and gear changes are my downfall...

With my old car (06 Grande 1.2), it was most efficient for changing up at around 2500rpm and I pretty much always kept it under 3000 rpm when travelling.

In the new car, EcoDrive is suggesting that I should be shifting as follows:

1st to 2nd: 2200rpm
2nd to 3rd: 1900rpm
3rd to 4th: 1800rpm
4th to 5th: 1500rpm (!?!?).

It could be that my new engine is just much more efficient at lower revs... but surely changing up under 2000rpm is encouraging the engine to labour - which wastes fuel ?

I have noticed though that when i'm trundling along at 30 in 4th, it's sitting about 1900 rpm, and every few seconds it'll pop up on the display to shift up, meaning i'd be in 5th @ 1900rpm.

I also used to travel at around 50mph on NSL roads, again as it was the most efficient speed. Now, EcoDrive is suggesting i should drive a bit faster - 55-65mph.

I suppose it's all about adjusting to how the new car works, and I'll give it's suggestions a go... but wondering if anyone else has experienced any sort of economy savings by following EcoDrive's advice ?

Cheers,
Chris.

Chris, the shift indicator doesn’t know what traffic situation you’re in. It’s just a dumb aid that makes a suggestion with regard to fuel efficient driving. You wouldn’t want to follow that shifting pattern when accelerating on an on-ramp, and it won’t serve as an excuse when you’re caught driving over the speed limit.

I'm on about the recommendations that the software made when I downloaded my driving data. My car doesn't have a shift indicator.
