Does the thumb drive need to always be plugged in? I just bought a new 500 Pop. I love the idea of the technology, but don't want to hog the USB port in the car.

Not sure how many trips it stores without USB, but it will log them and write to USB when you plug it in. You can store and use music on the same USB drive you are using for the ecorive, so not a total waste of the port.

You can have music files on the USB stick too, so it's not hogging it entirely for Eco Drive - It's happy using the same drive for music too.

I recall reading somewhere that the car will remember about 8-hours of driving before nagging you with "Memory Full".
