engine on a 98 1.9d ducato 10

hi!
2 questions-

first off, is this engine idi or di? is this somthing i need to ask fiat direct? if its an obvious thing to identify, what should i be looking for?

secondly, i have problems with oil leaks- one of the main ones is at the top of the engine block, to the right- a small cylindrical metal casting with a bolt on top- should this have some kind of gasket inside it, rather than just being metal to metal?

p.s after searching for ages i hjave had no luck finding a picture of the engine bay for this vehicle- anyone point me in the direction of one so i can illustrate any further questions? cheers.

I have a motorhome on a LHD 1998 Ducato 10 1.9.
Mine is a TDi - one of the early TD's I believe, complete with a turbo whine when it kicks in and not much power beforehand (or after!)! I've been told that the engine is the same as that fitted to the Regata at that time.
Mine also has an oil leak which I'm told is from an oil breather and nothing to worry about - I just keep a piece of plywood on the drive to avoid stains.
I'd be interested in any solution you find for your oil leak, though.
Can you do me a favour and have a look underneath at the leaf springs - how many leaves do you have? I have a double leaf plus what looks like an additional third leaf spring assister.
