Hi

After lots of money spent on egr I got some help here to get a obdII with multiecuscan https://www.fiatforum.com/ducato/451042-obd-ducato-250-2013-a.html Thanks!

After lots of confusion I decided to do a EGR and DPF off. :bang: The guys that did the EGR off also told me that they saw fault codes (u0001, u0019, u1701) on canbus that I had not seen with multiecuscan. They said the problem probably was a break in some cable and this could give false fault codes, The ABS problems i have could also be caused by the canbus problem.

After 110 km with a engine that performed great (totaly different car to drive) the P0486 (EGR faultcode) came up again.

Spoke with the guys that did the egr off and they claim that this has nothing to do with the EGR (since its off)... its the canbus that cause this..

I have to go back to the guys that did the EGR off but is their explanation likely? Could a break in a canbus cable cause these kind of problems? Would be great to have a second opinion before i leave the car to them.

Thank you / Markus

You can't just delete the EGR, the ECU has to be reprogrammed so it does not detect that the EGR is broken (missing) same may be true for the DPF.
Deletion is illegal in most countries, detection varies.

They claim to have done the ECUreprogramming (this is why they are sure of that the faultcode isnt caused by the EGR) but i still get the faultcode?!

Can a can bus problem cause false faultcodes like this?

Nothings impossible, but if they have "told" the ECU that there is no EGR fitted its hard to see why it would produce an EGR fault code. Too far away and getting information second hand, to know exactly what is going on.

have you left the egr controller plugged into the system?

I am not absolutely sure of how they do this EGR off, but i got the impression they only did the software reprogramming since they also said that this could easily be changed back to original software again.
