I have recently purchased a 2015 Hymer Exsis i588 LHD motorhome built on a Ducato chassis, it has the 2.3 multijet 150bhp engine. One of my first modifications was to fit a Pioneer Avic F88dab, satnav, music system etc, which is a magnificent piece of kit.
For obvious reasons, I then decided to replace the standard steering wheel with a Ducato multi function one which was located on Ebay for £55.00, apart from fun and games removing the airbag, all went well and it fitted perfectly. Except..... I cannot see how to connect the telephone and music buttons, I am aware I will need to buy an interface to link from the back of the clock spring that sits behind the steering wheel, to the back of the Pioneer unit, these are freely available on line.
However, there are only 6 electrical terminals on the front face of the existing clock spring, two for the airbag and two for the horn, this only leaves two and I would have expected to see 4, 2 positive and 2 negative for the respective hands free telephone on the LHS and 2 for the music volume buttons etc on the RHS.
Does any one know how I should be wiring up these steering wheel buttons, and is there a replacement clocks spring that provides the extra terminals that I believe I need?
Anyone providing the solution to the above can name their favorite charity and I will send a donation as a thank you.
Regards
