Hi,I have a little problem with my van...When it get loaded, the rear part gets too low...
What may I do?
It´s from 1997 and has 112.00 kms.
Will it be enough by changing the shock absorbers or may I modify the suspension springs?

Well,I have to say I haven´t spring leaves so I suppose I have to change schock absorbers ,,The thing is,as I Haven´t spring leaaves ,I don´t know ,if it´s not enough ,how I can put the bumpers...

You haven't spring leaves?

Is it a motorhome? Might have a torsion bar axle if these aren't greased the torsion bars can break resulting in saggy bottom syndrome :p

Daft question, but,
What weight limit is your van, and how much weight are you loading?

Forgive me for asking, but I see far too many overloaded illegal vans on the road, where owners think as an example 3.5tonne is what you can put in the back, when you can only put approx 1-1.2 tonne in the back, as 3.5T is the Gross, or whole van weight inc load, van, fuel, driver...
Assuming yours is a 3.5t gross weight van

When I looked up his vin before it was a 1.4 tonne payload chassis cab so most lightly a motorhome. VOSA found 80% of motorhomes overweight at the port a few years back. If you look at the average 4/5 berth they are 2.8-3.1 ton with no driver, no water, no gas, no passengers, no awning no provisions. The manufacturers are taking the **** putting those on 1.4 tonne chassis.

I agree. Some of the payloads on a '3.5't motorhome are not realistic. I believe they can be re-plated easy enough to 3.85t as it is only a paper exercise. Over 70s should be aware that the heavier group will effect their licence.

Grayston coil spring assisters. Fantastic. Simply self-fit and forget.

Well ,thanks but I have no springs...Only schock absorbers on one side and a sort of arm that holds the hub with the bearings, the brake drum and over it the wheel...

As I said it could be broken torsion bars, if you have the 1997 -> model then there is probably three round bars and can be replaced, if you have the ->1997 model then it may be a bundle of flat bars that alko won't sell you parts for but theres a guy in the UK sells them:

Thanks a lot...Do you know how to dismantle the axle so you take off the torsion bars and change it?

Thanks a lot for the indications...I'll tell you What I've done in the end.

Hi,I´ve raised up the vehicle and the arms of the axle Al-Ko offer a lot of resistance,so I think the torsion bars aren´t broken. The thing is moving this arms to compensate ..I don´t know very well how to do it and if it can be done.I do have this nut on the side of the arm ,like this picture

BUt I´m afraid I relaese the nut and I couldn´t make the adjustment right...Can you tell me how to do it? Thanks

If yours is the older type there are several flat bars in a bundle even if one or two were broken it would 'offer a lot or resistance'.

You can't really move the arms to compensate without modifying the mounting points and shock absorber location to turn the whole axle. You could possibly get the bars retempered if you can find a workshop to remove them. I don't think it would cost less than the spring / air assisters though.
