Hi all,
I have a strut mount suspension kit with the strut mounts, the bearing and the rubber seals.
What I want to know for sure is which side up for the seals as sometimes even Fiat dealerships mount them wrong.
The bearings have to be mounted black (the plastic) side up, but which side has to be up for the rubber seals? The smaller side (right side of picture) or the flat side (left on picture)? Both directions would be possible to squeeze it in.

Attached a picture what I mean.

Thx in advance!
Best regards,
Astragalus

I just checked and there is no help from Elearn. Any value in viewing how it comes apart ?
I seem to remember struggling with the same question myself.

Hello,

I can't fit the parts myself. I got all the parts and let have them fittet at a local mechanic workshop. But I want to give them detailled instructions how to do this, otherwise they just do it "somehow". I think that I am not allowed in the Workshop all the time during their work (which I would prefer), therefore I can't decide and look when the old parts come out And: it is not sure that the old parts are fittet correct, this may be wrong!

Thx!

Best regards,

v-ring lip goes on moving part, if the running surface for the seal lip is rusty and paint blistered then I would smooth it off with wire wool.

Normally you would grease the v-ring lip but as the top plate is dished and can hold water I put an excess of lithium complex grease inside the seal to keep water out, any excess is pushed out when assembled and rotated.
