Hi,

Can anyone offer any help on removing the Injector Pump please?

I thought you could remove the 3x bolts and withdraw it from the block without disturbing the cambelt but someone else told be you must remove the cambelt and pulley.

Thanks

Pulley doesn't need to come off, in fact it would be nigh on impossible to take if off in situ as you need to hold the pulley. Belt should stay put when you withdraw the I wold mark the belt on the cam and crank pulleys to be on the safe side.

Thanks for the reply.
Sorry, are you saying I need to hold the pulley to remove the pump?
If the pulley stays in-place I would have thought, it was therefore self supporting and didn't need to be 'held'...
Maybe I've the got the wrong end of the stick here..

Also, is the injector pump timed to the cambelt? I thought it wasn't on the JTD.

The pulley stays attached to the pump, when you withdraw the pump the pulley comes with it, at that point there is some possibility that the belt could move although it hasn't happened to me. Hence the suggestion to mark it

What I meant about holding is if you wanted to remove the pulley from the pump (recon pumps don't come with pulley so you need your old one) it would be unfeasible - I've tried and failed - it takes the bosch repair guy a 4 ft breaker bar, an enormous vice attached to a steel table bolted firmly to the floor and 20 stone of his weight I wasn't prepared to chance damaging the pulley in my vice - he uses old white metal bearings to protect the pulley in the vice.

Aaaah OK, I understand....
Sounds like a pain. Think I'll leave it to the garage to sort out.

Can anyone add to this thread? I am about to do the same job as my pump is leaking and i would like to rebuild it. I have just purchased the Van and I am just trying to spend as little as possible at the moment to get it through a RWC/MOT and on the road.
I don't want to change the timing belt, though if i need to pull the complete timing cover and all belts , harmonic balancer off etc I will.
I would like to know; Do i need to completely expose timing belt, and more info on removing injector pump pulley. Surely its not as hard as said above? also the hose claps on pump, are these hard to remove?
