Hi forum
Ducato, 2008, 2,3 l, 99000 km.
ABS light on. Tester show RH rear sensor not working. Sensor changed.
But ABS light still on.

Somebody tell's that it could be the wiring from sensor connector to block- connector. Or in the block-connector.

Does anybody here know this problem?

Did you check the reluctor ring isn't damaged / or missing?

Thanks for answer.
The ring looks ok, but I am not 100% sure if the funtion is ok. Could be a not visible fault.
Therefore 2 questions:
1 What ohm value has to measured on sensor ?
2 What value can be measured on the sensor, when wheel is rotating ?
I guess is voltage ?

Thanks beforehand.

I don't know the answer to this but if the other side is definitely ok you could check these values from there.

Hi
thank you.
You answer make sense.
Of course that's what I will do.

I know this is a old thread but this is a common problem for ducato's I have encountered a lot of these problems, it's a broken wire in the loom at the back of the chassis, I remmember the first one I did, tried sensors didn't work and found a broken wire

Hello FiatTechSam
I think you are right.
Tried to meassure on wires on both sides, LH and RH.
When ignition is on 0,14 volt on the LH wire, but zero on RH wire.
Try to find the broken point tomorrow.
I will be back.
Thanks for answer.

I'm afraid I came from ash to fire.
I found the broken wire, and to avoid
future breakage i changed the complete harness from front to rear.
I did it by means of 2 standard cables, being aware that original cabling was 2 twisted pairs.
And if the signals from sensors are AC voltage, the parallel wires can probably interfere each other ?
The tester tell: fault 602, CAN line error, BUS off, intermittent. What does it means ?
Could this be due to wrong wire material?

The common way to sense motion is a small coil wound around a magnetic core. The magnetic field changes when the teeth of the rotating ring pass the sensor, inducing a small voltage in the coil.
To observe the magnitude and shape of these signals you need an oscilloscope with a sensitivity of 0.1V/div.
Such small signals must be transported by means of - at least - a twisted pair to avoid crosstalk. A shielded (microphone) cable would be better.

Thanks for all answers.
I think you are right conc. the wire, twisted pairs.
Therefor I will recieve a new original cabel tomorrow, and fit it as soon as possible.
I will be back when I know more.

Belive it or not, fiat and many other manufactures use twisted wires, these are CAN lines, also known as communication lines, they are twisted on purpose so they are easily identified as can lines. A simple solder repair will be perfect but it's your choice

New question.
Now i got the new cable. But!!
The parts number of the old cable is 1357864080.
Fiat supply 1357865080. This cable consist of much more cables and many connectors, but also what is needed the ABS.
Does it means that just cut the "surplus" away?

New answer !!!!
After fitting of the original new cable everything function perfect.
So: I'S NOT POSSIBLE TO CREATE A NEW CABLE WITH PARALLEL WIRES.

Anyway, thank you for all the answers, it is good to have clever people to
communicate with.

One day I will probably be back when having some red or yellow lights.
I always have to rememberit is a Fiat, not a star machine.
