Hey my heater blower stop working completely on my fiat ducato 2007 any help please

Hi Ducato 120. For a 2007 Ducato I assume its the X250 model. When the ignition is on but the engine isn't being started, +12 volts is applied to the coil of relay T08 via Fuse F31 (7.5 Amps). Fuse F31 is situated in B002, a junction unit under the dash. The actual fan motor current (which is pretty high at full speed) flows via Fuse F08 (40 Amps), the contacts of Relay T08, the fan motor, then the speed selecting switch and resistors and then to earth. Fuse F08 and Relay T08 are situated in B001, a junction unit in the engine compartment. Failure of one of the resistor sections tends to leave some speeds still working, so instead I would look first at whether either F31 or F08 has blown or whether the F31, F08 or relay T08 pins are dirty.

Any help? The positive supply goes to the motor via the fuse and relay. the relay is energised when the ignition is on. The switch and resistor pack are in the negative feed to the motor. On the high speed position the resistor pack is bypassed.

On early x250's fiat and a couple of citroen relays I used, common also was the plug that connects to the resistor pack, bad connection usually the earth, can heat up & open up terminals giving bad connection, it can then start to burn out

Check plug by removing and looking at the terminals,
Pop plug back on and check,

Sometimes just unplug and plug back on works

The resistor and fan switch are known problems mines a 2011 model ive about had enough of throwing money at fiat parts and im about to design my own hvac controller over xmas simple slides and switches yes you guessed it the resistor pack caught fire again on me again today worst thing is it went out i only get 2 years out of them and the ac always has a problem every 9 months or so ive tried punto switches which because of their design only give me 3 speeds when installed replaced the hvac controller 3 times and done 3 resistor packs worst thought out and designed ac unit ive ever dealt with could have been simpler so thats what im going to do
Cheers Adam

No need to invent the wheel again!
There are PWM controllers on Ebay for less than 15 EUR, shipping included. Most use a potentiometer for a 5 to 100% control range but you can also keep the 4 pos. switch and use a few small resistors to get 25-50-75-100% fan speed without any danger of overheating.

Hey been bit long but found the prob it's was the T08 relay burnt out thanks for help

Very helpful thread, thanks.

I've just had the same issue, a completely dead heater blower on my 2007 Ducato, on all blower switch positions. It was working fine when last used a couple of months ago.

The fault was the relay T08 shown in the previous post. I removed it and tried it across a battery. It didn't actuate or make a click when 12V was applied. After several reconnections to the battery it did begin to click. Returned it to the fuse board and the blower worked.

It will almost certainly happen again so a replacement relay is needed.

I have the same problem on my 1999 1.9td on a S plate .Blower not working on any speeds . Where is this relay located.

Hi Pastyman

Your van is much older than the ones being discussed above. I attach two schematics for the Heater Fan, which will give you an idea of what was used around 1999. The Relay is shown as 8061 and the relevant 30 Amp Fuse as F13 which I believe is in the glove box. Unfortunately I can't help you with where the relay is located but under the dashboard would be a good place to start looking. You might want to also check the connectors to the fan motor, speed switch and resistor pack.

Thanks for your information and help. Unfortunately the motor home is a old bird as you say. If l had known what l was letting my self into l would have stayed clear. Lol at first l thought the motor home was a good buy . As we were travelling home from buying the vehicle the brakes failed and had the vehicle recovered and repaired. Strange the mot was only 5 days old . Broken brake pipe. Should have noticed all the brake fluid cans in the cupboards. I don't give in yet so hopefully she will ok and safe on the road .

Hi Pastyman,

I do not know if your vehicle will be similar, but I had a 1990 Talbot Express for many years. On that vehivle which had the fuses in the glove box, various relays were located behind (forward of) the instrument panel. I tend to be sceptical when people rush to suspect relays, but accept that the relay controlling the heater blower handles a heavy load and is more prone to failure.

Thanks for infro l think the earlier one's could be the same as Talbot express. Our vehicle has fuses in the glove box and have replaced the one associated to the fan but still not working lol will have a look at the relay. Unfortunately our vehicle is not parked at our address but in storage so l will have a look . Thanks for your help.
