Hi everyone Iam new to all this so bear with me.

I have a 2015 rapido 676ff motorhome based on the Fiat Ducato 130 or I30?.

It has since april developed a vibration which is continuous mut less when under acceleration.

it is particularly bad at about 30mph when the whole of the interior shakes. but does it at all speeds even when coasting.

There is no wheel wobble or steering vibration.

And the drive shafts were replaced yesterday under warranty, but this has failed to solve the issue.

Rapido can only come up with a solution that the tyres fitted may be the wrong type, and said that they have changed them on one other vehicle but when pressed siad that this did not cure the problem completely.

Iam in the process of getting all my tyres checked and balanced just in case but doubt this is the problem

Iam at my wits end as iam due to go on holiday soon.

Any suggestions would be very much apprecated.

Does it go away when you press the clutch and coast? Does it change when you drop.a gear and travel at the same speed?

Could be anything really, from loose fitted bumper/grill to something in engine bay, my air con cooling fan went, and rattled bad at low revs/tick over (complete double rad fan & housing) my most annoying rattle is the passenger sun visor !
On the air con fan it only did it when air con was on (was in summertime so was on most the time) tyres or alloys could both be wrong for vehicle, trial and error I'm afraid

Thank you for replying

No it still does it when the clutch is depressed, and still the same when changing gear.

It's not a rattle, there is no noise just a vibration

Is any part of the engine/gearbox/exhaust coming into contact with the body? I presume you had it before this fault appeared? Did it appear suddenly? Did you hit anything underneath? Is this vibration apparent at tick over? You say "Mut less under acceleration" I presume you meant to say "but less" etc, makes me think in the area of the engine resting against the body somewhere, are the engine and gearbox mountings OK?

Hi digger

Did not hit anything. I have not personally checked engine mountings but will get garage to do so.

You're right should have said but instead of mut

I've had droning and vibration from several cars where the rear wheels were out of balance. Don't just get the fronts checked, insist the rears are done as well. If the wheels do prove to be out of balance, ask what weights had to be added to each roadwheel.

I have a guy coming to balance rear wheels this morning.

Might be a silly question but why would I need to know the weights that were added?

Sounds like it might be structural resonance. Imagine a structure wishes to vibrate at a specific frequency. It only takes a very small excitation to get it going if at the right frequency. Various parts of your van hit all sorts of frequencies through driving speeds and conditions even if all is ok. Ask what options you have in the van compared to normal. Anything heavy or flimsy fitted in a new way or different place. Maybe a roof light or door location. As a manufacturer it is hard to test all combinations before you get them. All this supposes that the vibration comes from the structure as you imply in what you have said. Get one of them to come with you and witness the problem again.

A lot of motor homes have aftermarket (sometimes ill fitting) bumpers and grills, which may be your cause,
On my van, the grill is loose and a prox 3-4 bolts have dropped out, so currently good old cable ties hold it together until I can get some bolts and sort it,
That gives a grumbling noise although mainly at tickover.
It could be anything as I said earlier, a bit of trial and error I'm afraid,
Before its conception into a motor home, it could have been sat in a field for months or more, ingressing water to all parts under bonnet, rad fans, turbo, aux and air con belt adjusters all failed on mine through water corrosion

You sure have a curly one here.
Does the vibration alter with speed - does the frequency of the vibration increase proportionally with speed?
If it does, it must be wheel/tyre related as you have no main driveshaft. Even though you have balanced your wheels, I would look at possible out of round of the combo - jack it up and spin the wheel with something against the tread and see if any variance. Anything over about 1/8" will cause vibration. Ask the dealer to exchange your wheels with a known good vehicle and see if different. As you said the steering doesn't shake, I'd look very closely at the rear wheels/tyres.
If vibration does not vary with road speed as above, then you will need to look at body problems as mentioned above - as you describe it, it doesn't sound likely to me.

A long shot on what is probably a low mileage vehicle - rear wheel bearing/s?

Is the MH on an AL-KO or Fiat chassis?
