Hello all.

I have a Fiat Ducato 160 multijet 2011 based motorhome. I have lost a set of keys. The key is separate to the Autowatch fob. If I copy (where I don't know) the A602 key and purchase a new fob properly coded, will it work? I seem to be having difficulty replacing the blank though the fob is no problem. What I don't understand is where Fiat security ends and autowatch begins. I could really do with some advice please.

Are you talking about the autowatch fob or the fiat one.

keysinthepost.com cut the blade for my keys from a photo, very handy

The fiat fob contains both an immobiliser transponder and a central locking transceiver.

The immobiliser transponder needs to be precoded by reading the code from a chip in the van or by buying a key from fiat. It then needs to be coded to the van. An autolocksmith would probably be cheaper.

Ponsaloti on here was offereing precoded chips for id48 not sure if its possible for id46 it worth sending him a PM.

I lost my vehicle remote keys for a 2013 Ducato a few months back. (some towrag nicked my jacket whilst I was in Holland). Luckily I had the spare non remote key to get me home.

If its the remote you are after do not bother with ebay as they will NOT work and I think that you will find vehicle locksmiths will not touch a fiat ducato.

As far as I know, if yours is a UK registered vehicle it should be on the ISR register with Retainagroup (They are in Ashford Tel: 01233 333000). Fiat pass all new vehicle details to Retainagroup ie: key codes, radio codes etc.

You have to go to a fiat dealer and they order new keys and they come direct from Italy within a couple of days. The dealer then contacts retainagoup for the codes which are emailed to the dealer You pay £15.00 for them to do this.

The cost of new remote keys was £178.26, and the cost of coding keys was £25.00 Total cost including the VAT was £261.91.

Hope this helps.

I dont see why 2011 should be the same as similar generation punto stilo and bravo and the procedure is the same read eeprom, generate transponder.

In the old days when you had a new vehicle you got all the codes etc with the new vehicle with all the handbooks, service book etc. They came in the glove box when the vehicle is shipped over. This all stopped when the insurance companies insisted that all codes not to be in the new vehicle. Retainagroup was set up for manufacturers to store all details.

I tried all over the place to find somebody to get the keys and re-programme them for me but ended up having to go to fiat because no auto locksmith would guarantee they could get them to work.

I would be very interested if you could find somebody other than fiat dealership who can do this work. Even the fiat dealers has to go to the ISR for the orginal coding. However I do not know if this is the case for pre 2007 vehicles as I had a 57 plate Ducato 160 with the retainagroup certificate from the previous owner which I had to then register in my name.

There are several places that will do make you new transponders by return post e.g.: https://www.remotekeys.co.uk/fiat-ducato-immobiliser-2006

Fiat dealers don't know one end of a soldering iron from the other, the original coding can be generated from the contents of the eeprom in the BSI using tango or tmpro or similar software.

check your insurances policies motor home, car and house one may well have key cover included and 1 phone call could save a lot of hassle, its usually does not affect ncd either.

Thats a good point I know I have that cover for my camper.

Hi all,
I'm new to the site so thanks for having me. I'm buying a 2017 Ducato campervan and the dealer is telling me it comes with just the one remote key (plus 2 other normal keys). Is this correct? If not I have a difficult conversation to have with them!
Many thanks for your wisdom.
Cheers
John

You can specify a second remote key at point of order for around £50, which is a bargain compared to the £250-£300 it will cost if ordered later, and probably cheaper than an aftermarket key from a locksmith. But if you're buying a van from existing dealer stock you probably won't have that option.

Not sure where your getting your information from. We charge £150 total for a remote key for this vehicle.
We need the van for 10mins. No need to pre-order, just phone 1st to make sure I'm in the shop.
