Hi everyone,

I'm new here so hello to one and all. I run a small fleet of Four of these great trucks. We use the dropside version. We have run Ducatos for years and really like them. Seems odd that I have only just found your forum!!

One has developed an odd fault. When under load, or going uphill, or coming off a roundabout (high gear, low revs) the engine 'kicks'. It's like a half second-or-so misfire. Then it's ok. But it does it everytime. The problem is getting worse as sometimes the Engine Light comes on. It has been to a garage but everytime I have taken it the engine light was off and the truck recorded no fault... So it's a bit puzzling!! I am hoping it is a sensor or something not so serious. The lad that drives it says that when it does 'kick' the truck will sometimes loose power for a few seconds then come back to him. As you can imagine this may become dangerous so I would like to get it fixed.

Has anyone had anything similar or is it a common fault.

Any ideas or input is appreciated

Thanks
Dan

Hi all,

First post to the forum Hello!

I drive a Ducato 30 swb30 with the 120 multijet engine. Over the last year the fault described on post#1 is slowly getting more frequent. It always happens on start-up,worse when the engine is hot. It always clears after a couple of mins, or a re-start will sometimes work.

When the van was less than year a year old this fault happened once and a replacement EGR valve put matters right. I've seen a few other post on other forums that say similar. This van has now done 155K miles, (new clutch at 75K due to clutch cylinder failure). Fuel consumption 35-42mpg with a light load/right foot on stop start runs. Performance with the 120 in a smaller van is really good.

I'm getting the fault code looked at and post what they find.

I know this is off topic, but I've read that this engine suffers cam bearing failure due to the long 28kmile service intervals. Some recommend 12kmile oil changes.... Any thoughts?

Regards, SJM.

i have a 2013 model doing exactly the same have had diagnostic done dealer cannot find fault if you have could you please let me know as vehicle is now inoperable thanks

Morning. It seems this also may be similar to my problems.

Can you pop a video up here of it happening?

Take a look at this thread and there is a video on there too. Is it the same do you think?

https://www.fiatforum.com/ducato/438665-2-3-engine-cutting-out.html

I downloaded Multiecuscan and that found codes that Snap on diagnostics could not find. It only costs £35 or there abouts for the licence.

Keep us updated. Maybe between the tree of us we can get to the bottom of this!
