As I understand it, Flettner vents only work when there is wind, and can be irritatingly noisy. So I fitted a Pacet Fan as fitted to Coaches, Prison Vans etc

Sikaflex 512 or wurth bond & seal is the thing to fit vents with.

Using cheaper Plumbers Mait mine has been in 5 years, it doesn't leak, and being non setting can easily be dismantled. How is Sikaflex 512 or wurth bond & seal better than that?

Apart from the mess I'm sure it works fine with that vent but other smaller vents like the flettner with small flanges and crappy screws I'd want the mechanical strength of the adhesive and its much easier to run a bead of that. Bond and seal is about the same price although shelf life is obviously a decade or so shorter :D

Well if you put enough on to ensure a good seal there will be surplus squeezing out, so they both make a mess. As you say Sikaflex has stronger adhesion, which suggests it will be harder to clean off - especially if you need to dismantle it later..
If you need strong adhesion I would agree don't use Plumbers Mait. But the vents own clamp screws are supposed to be strong enough to hold it on.
