Hello I'm going to be driving in France soon. I have a 2003 Ducato , will I need to put lamp deflectors on the headlights or will it be ok to travel with the lamps switched at full dip ?

thanks

No they are a legal requirement unless you have plenty of €€€€€€€

For the sake of a bit of insulation tape and a Stanley blade it's not worth the fine

That method can damage polycarbonate lenses the black tape absorbs radiated heat causing crazing and some of the adhesives can etch the lens when heated.

Eurolite and metro ultra are only about £10 anyway.

Metro are fine for the 244 and older lamps but probably not flexible enough for the 250 model curvature eurolites work fine though apparently.

The key thing when fitting either is you need to be at eye level with the dipped bulb to align them correctly and double check against a wall.

Touch wood never had any issues myself, but then again its not on for a prolonged period, only about 5 days at most.

Tbh any of the deflectors I've seen have not done the lenses a lot of good , my suggestion is to people that go to the continent a lot is get a set of headlamp protectors and put the deflectors on them that way no chance of ever damaging the lenses , does make me laugh though none of the surrender monkeys bother when coming over here !!!

The metro ultra ones are transparent so they dont absorb much heat, the eurolite ones are reflective to reflect the heat both have safe adhesive. I've had the metro ones on for a few months and there was no trace once removed. Metro ones are not as effective at removing the kickas the eurolites ones but you don't lose so much light either and your ass is covered should you be stopped.
