Evening everyone.
I have a 2000 w Ducato 2.8idtd diesel Swift Kon Tiki Motorhome.
As it hasn't been used fro the last month and now in a field, I took the battery off to keep on a trickle charge.
Have put the battery back on but now can't start it as the key code light on the dash won't go out.
I have had the battery off before on a trickle charge, put back on and never had any problems starting.
I have the original red ish master key and 2 spare normal ones and also a little credit card size slip that has the emergency starting codes on it.
I have tried all 3 keys but the light still won't go out.
I have disconnected the battery, left if for 30 mins or so, tried again but still the same.
The manual says the emergency starting is only for petrol engines, which seems pointless as what's the point in supplying it?
Anyone know what I can do to overcome this or by pass it, typical as someone is 'spose to be coming a long way and buying it next Tuesday!
Thanks.
Mike

Theres a black (or sometimes red) switch on the firewall behind the battery its there to stop the engine in the event of an accident. You've probably banged it putting in the battery. There is a push switch at the bottom of the switch covered with a rubber membrane you need to push it.

It looks like this:

Hi ecunotemu,
Thanks for getting back to me with more info and some pics.
I'll go and have a look and hope and pray it's something as simple as that rather then having to have the keys recoded.
Would have to rain!
Cheers
Mike

Hi ecunotemu,
I managed to find the push button switch thingy, and the van now seems to be ok, so many thanks for giving me that information
There doesn't appear to be any mention of that in the handbook.
Cheers
Mike
