Even if they could do it will probably cost twice as much as getting a tuning company to do it you're wasting your own time. Call every motorfactors in your town and ask them to recommend someone to disable vmax, I'm sure one of them will know.

Hope he can sort it mate, reckon it's ECU/BSI type map program unless somewhere under the dash there's an aftermarket plug in speed limiter box,

My aftermarket cruise ECU/connectors is located behind the trim panel under steering wheel, where he tapped into the speed pulse wire somewhere near (I assume) the throttle pedal potentiometer (fly by wire)
I believe as well these cruise devices have a limited option (which I've never looked into using) so I also assume there are aftermarket plug in units that would possibly be used in bulk by firms buying/leasing a block order of vans

But I also may be wrong on all counts :)

Good luck tomorrow

Exactly right it is in the eeprom and bsi so i am told just need to know how to sort it.

Well today i have finally sorted my speed restriction it was by chance i did,my reverse lights have stopped working so first thing to do was check fuse removed the screws so the whole lower dash draw comes down to reveal the whole fuse box.going through the fuses i noticed some writing on a sticker above the fuse box DBW (drive by wire) so put my hand in and found a 5inch by 4inch box so pulled on it to find it was held in by velcro got it out it had a seal going across two screws and writing that said Autokontrol speed restriction on it so i broke the seal took the four screws out to find a board in their with a fuse on so i removed the fuse put it back together went for a drive and bingo no speed limiter.I will take some pics and upload them.

:D

Well done, lucky find too :)

Yep was a lucky find i do know if my brother uses the van i can put it back in :D

Just got to find out why the reverse lights have stopped working plus the rear parking sensors, reverse camera still works fine though?.

Check the bulb holder for corrosion also the witting connectors to the bulb holder the earth can open up (female terminal) and corrode, the plug opens up and you can clean the terminals and close it together again)
Normally all lights play up but worth checking

Possible Rev light switch

Got the reverse lights working, after going through all the plugs on the rear light cluster checking wiring fuses etc all looked fine so the only thing that could be wrong was the switch,so opened bonnet located the switch to find it was not plugged in found the plug plugged in checked reverse all was working fine again :D.

I couldn't understand why so i looked through the history which is like a telephone directory to find it had a gearbox rebuild and new clutch put in beginning 2014, Having being owned by Allianz health care the van has been kept in tip top condition mechanically they must of forgot to plug it back in all is good now though :D (y)

Morning everyone from the Harz (snowed yesterday).

Still pissed off trying to find the solution for 'derestricting' my 120 in 5th & 6th gear but I have found a temporary respite and it cost me all of 3.89euro.

I bought 2 x 110kmh stickers and put them on the back doors of the van :)

Works a treat .................... no more Sprinters and Crafters trying to durf me out of the way.

Thought you'd found and removed the plug in limiter mate?

Hi Polo, nice to hear from you :)

Everyboy is telling me it's the ECU mate, do you know something we don't ?

Pray tell before I launch my 120 over the nearest Harz mountain:confused:

Ah sorry no, ducatoru's comment I thought was yours, must go spec savers !

I guess you've checked down under steering column behind the trim where he found his, to make sure there's nothing there? Like my aftermarket cruise control, it picks up the speed pulse wire somewhere down there.

I did notice when using multiecuscan there is something like speed control listed which was turned off on mine, wether that's anything to do with your issue I couldn't say,

An option is to take it to a remapping agent, over here someone like quantum tuning who have agents using they're software
They read your ecu/map and fettle it, if it's a programming 'in the map' surely they will find and remove it, there must be agents/tuners over in Germany
Fiat won't help, they couldn't even turn my exterior temp display on! I did with multiecuscan

Hi Harz I had probs with my ducato 2.3 motorhome and Fiat spent £1000's but still the problem was there it would rev away itself then not rev at all I sent the ECU to the ECU doctor in Plymouth and it was found to be faulty and cost £475 to repair but I can assure you it was well worth it after all the bother and Fiat could not find the problem if you send it to them it will cost £50 to inspect it but if they find the fault they will give you a cost of repair to it. I think £50 is worth it in your case
Regards John

Morning guys from the Harz :)

I think we've established that it is the ECU that has some sort of 'restrictive' map installed to cap top speed in 5th and 6th.

I'm going to speak with Celtic and Quantum thi morning to see if I can get to the bottom of it.

Fiat ........................... waste of time. Fiat Chrysler Germany are as bad as the UK lot.

Hi again everyone.

Right, I've found someone who genuinely knows what he is talkng about and he's asked me to perform a couple of tasks before we go any further.

Back to you later :)

Best regards Simon

Hi guys, some fantastic news at last !!!!!!!!!!!

I'm still not going to name names until I've got the ECU back and re-installed but I've just had an email from one of the firms engineers to tell me that the ECU has now had the speed limiter removed and has been remapped.

I'm not being coy guys, but I want to get the unit back and in the van and try it before I tell you who did the job for me (well respected and very well known company that have given me superb service, and I mean superb!)

Hopefully I'll get it back on Monday, reinstall, test and then have a couple of beers.

Best regards Simon

just Throwing this out there you understand ......................................... BBA REMAN ... (coz thats where I would have gone!!!!!!!!!)

................ meanwhile in the Harz Mountains :)

Right guys, my ECU is on the way. I traced it to Frankfurt airport so it should be here tomorrow BUT IN THE MEANTIME I HAVE FOUND THE REAL PROBLEM 100% AND I AM BLOODY WELL KICKING MYSELF !!!!

THIS IS ALL IN CAPS GUYS BECAUSE ONE OF YOU ON HERE HINTED THAT THERE MAY BE A THROTTLE BOX FITTED AND SURE ENOUGH THERE IS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was tidying up the under dash area and noticed that there was a stray plastic tie hanging down, followed by a meter of coil-wrapped cable nd guess what was attached to the other end?

A SIEMENS VDO PEDAL ENHANCER TYPE 2 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I feel such a prat!!!!!!!!!!!!! That would hav saved a load of heartache if I'd looked under there first. When I followed the cabling back I then found where it had been spliced (as well as plugged and played) into the wiring loom !!!!!!! and of course the throttle pedal!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've found the installation manual on the internet and it's defo the culprit. What it doesn#t tell me is how to remove it which I'm guess is a reveral of the installtion program. As it has to be installed with the ignition off it cannot have done anything to the rest of the electronics.

Any body actually removed one of thse bloody things?

Siemens VDO are in Frankfurt so I'll call them tomorrow but in the meantime and help would be be apprecited :)

Please don't hate me guys :bang:
