3.0 160 on an Autotrail motorhome. 12000 miles, clutch slipping when pushed hard at 2000 rpm plus in high gear. Clutch stripped out and no significant friction plate wear, dual mass flywheel with excessive rotational play, some evidence of blueing due to slippage. Only theory I can come up with is the pressure plate is weak and allowed slipping. All parts replaced now (at some cost) but has anyone else had similar experience? How does one prevent recurrence?

It has so much torque that it is important to work through all the gears if accelerating hard. It is all too easy to boot it in 5th or 6th rather than changing down.
Mine is a comfortmatic on 44k miles.

I have A 2007 Ducato 160 van and changed the clutch at 200'000 miles and the dual mass flywheel lost drive about 15000 miles later
So they can go a long time
I would agree with the previous about not lugging the engine

How sure are you about the 12k miles?

My experiences with FIAT designed vehicles are not good, but I don't believe they put clutches in a drive train that cannot handle the torque. If you are not the 1th owner the clutch plate may have been replaced earlier with an incorrect type. Another possibility is a defective hydraulic valve so the pressure plate could not exert full force or a driver used the pedal as a foot rest.
