Hello All, As you migth notice i am new in this forum. My Name Is Divine and i reside in France.

Please i need help with this one. I have a fiat Ducato 2003, 2.3JTD Model. I have the van for over six months now and about 2 weeks ago i arrive home with the van after driving for almost 1hr. As soon as i arrive my parking the van went off, i tried to start it again with no luck. A friend of mind came by and said it was possibly diesel shortage as i was on reserve already. The next day i got some Diesel and the van took off again.

After driving for about an hour, i stopped and when i tried to start the van again it refuse to start. After about 30 minute of waiting, it started again. This time around i drove for about 10 minute and while driving the van just went off with no signal. Since then it has been behaving like that , (goes off while i am driving and after cooling for about 10 TO 20 minute it will start again). I have already change the diesel filter but no help. Some one has metioned the fuel pump or ignition Relay. However like any of us i do not want to keep changing the parts with out being certain if the real problem will be resolved or not.
CAN ANY WANT HELP ON THIS. THANKS

Assumptions: 1. You are in the south of France and the temperature is fine. 2. There is just a small amount of fuel in the tank.

The fuel pump in the tank is surrounded by warm fuel and does not start because some sediment is in the bearings or the two small gears in the pump body, causing friction. After cooling down the pump shaft or gears "shrink" and the pump can start normally.

I had the same with an Opel Frontera that refused to start after running well on a hot day. Replacing the pump solved the problem.

Crank sensor would be my first guess ( cheap to buy easy job), maybe EGR valve.

Thanks guys, I will consider your suggestions. i do hope one of the above coud be the winner, however what ever the case i will keep you all posted. Nice weekend.

Check that your low pressure fuel pump is running you may have to remove your carpets etc and the round cover in the floor that should allow access to the top of the fuel tank.
It is very easy then to hear if the pump is running if not then no way will your van run. It will only run for a few seconds when the ignition is first turned on the ecu then stops it till it has a running engine see the post 2.3 multijet starting problem from myself lexion770
