Ok folks finger crossed time

Finally I have managed to fix the P Seal, along with drainage pipes and new scuttle trims.
Waiting for silicon to set before testing

As you can see from the photos,

National windscreens overdosing of goop didn't work, only pushed the seal away from screen and defo leaked as you can see the injector well complete with duck pond!

So I ordered new trims,

Removed old ones swapping the bits that need swapping, cleaned glass of goop used pre paint wipes to remove goop residue.

Popped new trims on, then carefully inserted the P Seal under the trim/seal, then removed red tape (double sides tape on new trims to stick to screen) thus sticking P Seal to trim.

I overdosed on silicon on the joint (still thinking of drilling a hole and popping a small bolt/nut/washer through once silicon has set, to keep a tight joint)

Then silicon sealed the top of the P Seal to glass, again overdosing at the ends and underneath the rubber scuttle trim ends to try and seal off the ends.

Then drilled out the two tiny drain holes at the ends, threw away blocked pipes!

Inserted pipe fittings, and cut garden hose to length and using hose clips to fix on, siliconed the pipe fitting from above.

Made a third drain drilling out the recess inside the N/S washer jet,

And popped a drain on the lip of the air intake under bonnet.

Using Wurth expanding foam tape, I taped up around the headlamps, so there is a foam seal around where lamps butt up against, wing, top and bottom trims and bonnet, also strips on bonnet edge

Fingers crossed :)

Even if it's a 75% success u will be over the moon.

In light rain water poured down the back o/s, all over the vacuum bracket top middle, into injector well, all over the top of air intake under bonnet, thus going everywhere in that area.

Will report back after test,

2012 euro 5, 3.0 180bhp ducato van,

Faults to date from water ingress :-

Turbo variable vein actuator,
Turbo
Glow plug timer
Glow plug (seized in then snapped off!)
Wiring corrosion problems galore,
Still glow plug wiring issue, bilked in tomorrow for that.
And probably more issues in future due to corrosion,
4.5 weeks off the road since Xmas due to water ingress.

Do yourselves a favour, do the above mod, fiat don't want to know about solving the issue!
They will fix the symptoms under warranty (first 2yrs) but not the cause!

That's a cracking job you've done there! Shame Fiat didn't get it right first time. I've just looked at a '63 reg van, and the scuttle is unchanged......so it seems nothing has been done to rectify the fault. I've just about collected the bits to do a similar job on my '10 reg 2.3l van, so hope to achieve as good a result. Did you take the bonnet off to make the access easier?

Thanks mate, still not leak tested :) waiting for the rain to cone,

Yeah I removed bonnet, headlamps, trims,
Wiper arms were seized on, wd40 and half hour plus a new screen! Later they came off lol,

My only worry is the centre joint, tge silicon looks like not a great seal,
Thinking of popping a narrow bolt and washers through to tighten the seal up.

End of day as we say, fiat having changed it, any improvement is a long term benefit :)

Point of note, the torx bolts are soft, best getting a bag of them from fiat, as well as a spare set of clips for scuttle just in case you need to remove again, they all break off,

Just sat in a layby in wales for 1:20 hours, in medium rain, and not a drop has leaked thru, all dry, apart from small amount around air intake as normal but covered by new drain pipe fitted if it gets too much :)

hi they changed the scuttle in 2014 face lift like you said fiat have a lot to answer for over the water ingress

My 66 plate (2014 on scuttle) doesn't leak a drop,

That's about the only good thing about the van mind! Lol

That's easy for you to say but you're dealing with a 70 year old here, struggling with today's technogizmowhatdoyoucallit's.

How does one book mark please?
hi i am 67 & i was 60 before i found out how to switch a laptop on at the top of your page there should be a long bar called the tool bar keep pressing one of those till it says bookmark hope someone will come & explain better then me as i am shyt with computers

Syldale, thank you for the concise way you guided me!
I've gone for "thread tools", "subscribe to this thread". Wot do you reckon, a plan?

Well just joined the forum...HI everyone.

In August I took delivery of a new motorhome on 2017 Ducato chassis Euro 6 2.3 Multijet. So it has the new scuttle design

I've definitely got water coming in to the engine compartment so whilst I think they've improved the situation I don't think they have resolved it. Seems to be a combination of a faulty neoprene insert (not skinned properly) on the passenger side (driver's side is fine) and poor design.

This basically means that water coming down the left or right edge of the windscreen gets directed onto a rubber seal that presses against the metalwork of the body. Except this seal isn't up to the job and so water comes in by the bonnet hinge. If by luck water is kept out by the seal, it then gets to the neoprene insert which is about as rigid a bath sponge which lets water pour over its side into the engine bay instead of diverting it into the scuttle.

I've had it back to local Fiat dealer and spoken to customer service but apparently water streaming into your engine bay is not a fault and expected.

Anyone else out there with similar issues ?

I've only been an owner of a 2011 35 Maxi for a couple of months and hadnt heard of this fault. Thanks for posting rolopolo.

My scuttle trim has a very loose fit and while I havn't spotted evidence of water damage in the engine bay, I've not been looking for it particularly. Once the sun comes back up, I will get that bonnet up. (y)

Our 2015 Ducato is into our local fiat garage for a week in a hope they can cure the problem this is the 3rd time. Fiat italy do not want to know even though we are still under warranty. We had a new scuttle fitted the last time it was in 2 weeks ago no change. They also replaced the 2 end sponge pieces one is still much softer than the other we don’t know why?
We have sealed along the top with sikaflex which improved it slightly.
Stills pouring in on passenger side.
Fingers crossed and everything else. Will let you know if it comes back cured.

Received phone call from local fiat dealers in Stoke on Trent unable to find where water is coming into engine compartment, passenger side, under bonnet hinge somewhere seems or be the worst place so they have given up and can’t offer any assistance will have a go at doing it ourselves, if anyone comes up with the answer they should patent it!!!

The X250 windscreen scuttle leak was a familiar topic on motor home forums in 2007 - 2009. I personally have sealed three and they were then watertight. It is not high tech or expensive.
Google 'Fiat X250 windscreen scuttle leak' and among the complaints are some well described fixes including this topic.
PS change your garage

Being a 2015 is yours the old shape x250 or new shape x290 ?
I’ve not heard of the 290’s having an issue yet, but yes the 250 has been an issue 06-13
