Hi
i hope that someone can help me.
I am in charge of a fleet of Ducatos and have the same problem on 2 2006 2.0
JTDs and a 2.3 JTD 2004. The vans all drive with no problem at all until under heavy load such as climbing a hill or overtaking on a motorway when the eml comes on and the engine cuts out as if the ignition switch had been turned off.
The engine will then not restart until it has been left for a few minutes when it will restart and run as normal until the next time the fault happens again. The low pressure pump, high pressure pump including the pressure regulating valve, pressure sensor and injectors have all been replaced. Has anyone got any idea what could be the fault?
Thanks, Sam

I have a very similar problem. When ever the van (2003 2.3 JTD) is under heavy load like high speed on hill going into 5th, the EML comes on and there is a loss of power until I back off on the throttle. Then the light goes out and power is restored.

Any idea? It runs fine other than that. It usually happens when i am getting up to speed and just about to upshift to next gear. I don't see any black smoke out back.

thank

Crank sensor would be my first choice also, easy to replace and not expensive.

I'll check that out. I thought it might be the EGR, but I just looked through my owners handbook and from what i can tell this van doesn't have an egr valve. If it doesn't have an EGR does this mean it will also not have an air flow sensor (MAF?)?

Thanks
